Crocheting my baby a baby blanket...need gender neutral color suggestions please :-)

Hi all :-)
So this is baby #3 for DH & I & we've been team green with every pregnancy. The blanket I crocheted #1 was pale green. Baby #2 got a pale yellow blanket.

Does anyone have any gender neutral color suggestions for Baby #3's blanket?

Thank you :-)

  • I'm sure some would disagree, but I think a light blue is gender neutral.  I wouldn't hesitate to wrap a baby girl in a blue blanket.  :)

    Or maybe orange?

  • I was going to suggest giraffe colors....like yellow/light brown and maybe even orange.  I'm not planning on finding out the sex of my baby and I'm doing a giraffe theme nursery to keep it gender neutral.  Or what about just white.  I recently saw newborn photos of a baby boy wrapped in a white crocheted blanket and it was adorable!

Blue. I'm hoping my LO will have blue eyes like DH and then I will dress them in blue all the time, boy or girl.

ETA: If you are open to non-colour options I think off-whites are really pretty.

  • I'm liking grey now that I have read a couple people post grey

  • What about a multicolor orange/cream blend? Or maybe something with an aqua/brown blend--Red Heart has a color called chocolate mint that might be interesting.  Probably depends on the pattern you're using--do you prefer to stick to solid colors?
  • Thank you for all the beautiful suggestions, ladies! I'd like to stick to a solid color & I'll be giving the blanket a white border, like the other 2 blankets. :-)
  • I'd say taupe or a light mocha. Should look nice with the white border.

  • My grandma made me a blanket for number one, it's white, blue, yellow, green, and pink. We have a boy, but he uses it every single day.
  • Cream would be pretty
  • I love teal and gray and agree that light blue and lavender can be gender neutral.  Lime green is also fun!

    Go team green!
  • Orange!!! :D
To be honest... Most fruit colors work lol. Even dark (navy) blue and red are gender neutral.

  • Another vote for gray. It is my favorite color!
  • I actually really like any assorted colors for gender neutrality. It can include blue, green, pink, red, white, grey, yellow -- all children know and learn those colors and can be wrapped up in them.

  • Orange and/or gray were the first two colors that came to mind.  Not hunter orange, something much more subtle.

  • I'm thinking a really pale orange, like sherbet! I think that would be so pretty!

  • My mom is crocheting a baby blanket for our little one. We are also team green. So I picked out grey and a light orange. It's a chevron pattern.
  • My vote is either teal or grey!

  • I've been knitting one for my baby! we aren't team green, but we don't know the sex yet and I needed to get started in order to finish on time. I bought a really soft yarn that is multi-colored- off white, a sandy colored tan, and a pale blue. The color combo is called "little cosmos" which just made me really happy.
  • I'm on the teal/grey bandwagon. We did our nursery white and grey horizontal stripes and a teal accent wall. I'm completely loving it!

  • I'm team green and plan on doing a lot in light blue. I think baby girls in light blue is beautiful especially with blue eyes.  Also, yellow and grey are really popular right now.
