@allydncr I clicked "love it" referring to the haircut thing, but I think Elf on the Shelf is cute. Not so much as a threat to make the kids behave...but just a fun Christmas tradition for the kid to wake up and find him every morning. I don't think it has to be extravagant like the stuff on Pinterest, but just having him in a random spot. My 4 yr old niece loves it! I also think any old random elf toy would work...not the $30 one you can buy.
Mine this week is that I kind of like Taylor Swift and I don't know why she gets hated on so much. (might be more of an FFFC but I know most people hate her so it's also a UO)
She's not the greatest singer, that's for sure and she's far from what you would call traditional "country music"...but I think it's kinda cool that she writes all her own songs and plays an instrument. Ok, ok...so the lyrics might not be the best and she can only play basic chords...but isn't that better than just twerking??
I dunno, I guess I would be kinda happy if I had a daughter that liked her as opposed to some of the other "role models" out there.
Sure, she dates a lot. Meh. She hasn't released any sex tapes or nude pics yet. She dresses pretty normal too.
She's also really pleasant during interviews and really nice to her fans.
Ok I'll stop now. Let's just say I'm kind of a secret fan.
I hate that goddamn elf on a shelf. I think it is the stupidest thing... let's take this elf and have "him" make a mess of my house (who the hell has time for that???). I just don't understand the purpose of it. Is the threat of "you better be good cuz Santa's watching" not good enough - he has to send an elf to watch now?
Also, I can't stand it when moms refuse to cut their little boy's hair because they have some sort of emotional attachment to it. I have no problem with boys with longer, styled and neatly cut hair, but I have some mom friends who are so attached to their son's "beautiful" hair that they just let it grow ragged because they can't part with it. Your son looks like he is either a) homeless or b) a little girl, and if you're having trouble cutting his hair, you are going to have a heck of a time when he goes off to college.
regarding the haircut thing, my SIL has three little boys and she didnt cut any of their hair until about their 2nd birthday when it was past their shoulders, it drove the whole family crazy
in her defense though, she donated the hair all three times to Locks of love
I have a feeling this will be a true UO.... but all the talk about not posting pictures of your kids online partially naked (i.e. in a bathtub or in underwear) is not a big deal to me.
Yes, I am aware there are creeps out there, but (and here comes the UO) it doesn't really bother me that much the idea that someone COULD be using those pictures for their own sick pleasure, it doesn't directly affect or harm my child if someone was looking at a picture of them and being perverted. I know it should disgust me, but I have a hard time really caring about some potential anonymous pervert.
So if I want to share a bath picture (PG rated for his future privacy of course) with some family members on FB... I am going to go right ahead... internet pervs be damned!

Just from personal experience, when I was in college I worked in a restaurant/bar like most college kids. The restaurant used the employees in their ads, post cards, flyers etc. so it wasn't like they were "slutty" pictures but I still had a few really creepy men who would come in and say they "used" my picture. I didn't realize just how grossed out I was until that happened. Now, I'm all for taking adorable pics of R but for anything I even question I just don't put it on Facebook. I'll send it in an email or text to my family or print it out at home and stick it in an album.

My problem with Taylor Swift is that she's successful in mediocrity. She writes songs, strums her guitar, and is nice? There are hundreds and hundreds of (far more) talented musicians out there, who are equally kind to their (far fewer) fans, who will never see Taylor Swift's success because they're not in the right genre or don't know the right people or aren't as pretty. If people like her, that's fine. I don't hate her as a human being, and yeah, she's probably more "wholesome" than a lot of pop stars (although she seems to be in a lot of relationship denial). She just typifies the frustrating truth that talent and quality aren't what sells.
First : hold me closer Ally Dancer...I literally can't stop singing that. I need you to change your name! Jk
My UO:I hate winter. Like there is no redeeming quality for it. I even dislike Christmas, New Years and Valentines day because I have to go out in the cold to celebrate.

1. Was there an snl skit with that song about tony danza?
2. I used to feel the same way about winter until I fell in love with snowshoeing and cross country skiing.
My inlaws bought Violets first ornament. I'm not even slightly upset.
I've been secretly hoping a relative would show up with one, or my mom would mention it. I quickly looked a couple places but I'm way too lazy to go on a mad hunt for one.
First Christmas dress I wanted to choose so she doesn't end up looking like a festive honey boo boo but the rest I don't care.

I'm the crazy daughter/daughter-in-law who basically told everyone that I was buying the ornament and if they tried, I would cut them.

This we do agree on! My mom (the bad gift-giver) bought E a first christmas ornament and it is not my style and I don't even want to put it on the tree! I am a terrible person.
My dream is actually to have two trees - one with all the sentimental (tacky!) ornaments in the family room and one in a theme with elegant pretty ornaments in the dining room.
And @scormier123 I LOLed at the Honey Boo Boo reference. I can just picture it now...
I SO plan to do this too! I'm pretty picky about my tree decor but I have a few sentimental ornaments from family that I sort of hide off to the side. I'm thinking when LO is old enough to want to "help" decorate the tree, we can get a 2nd small one for the family room downstairs and just go nuts with tackiness. You know when they're old enough to come home with a homemade popsicle stick reindeer ornament we won't have the heart to say no! haha
I don't get why people need to explain why they've edited a post. Honestly, I don't even notice whether or not it says "edited" on the side, and I certainly wouldn't call people out for doing it. I know it's proper Nestiquette but I just think it's silly.

I use an ornament tree (the metal kind) for sentiment, and a big tree for looks. But I'm digging the two tree idea as the sentimental collection grows.

It's proper shanktiquette.
Yes!!!
Shanktiquette? Please enlighten me. :-)
Edited just for the sake of editing...and because I thought I spelled Shanktiquette wrong.
Re: UO
I think Luvs are better than Huggies and Pampers.

I've decided that I'm weaning S when she gets her first tooth, or at the beginning of the year, whichever comes first

My baby has been in a stormy period for 2 1/2 months straight. I call bullshit!
Wait he had speaking roles? I guess I was too busy drooling to realize there were lines being thrown about.
