Tossed all of the pacifiers this morning, and DS didn't make a peep during his nap. 'Course, he didn't sleep either but at least he hadn't cry for 2 hours straight. To answer some of the questions as to why it is a big deal/why we would get rid of it... We decided to get rid of the paci because we felt that it was time- it was starting to impact his speech and we didn't want it to mess up his teeth. Our pediatrician recommended it be gone at 1 year, which we did not do, but at his 18 month they brought up some good points about getting rid of it, namely the impact on speech, teeth and the fact that the longer we waited the ore difficult it would be on everyone. With a new baby coming, it was a good decision. He has never been the kid in Target that is at least 3 sucking away but still. Hoping that this good streak continues and we don't have tears tonight! I was very nervous about going cold turkey, but so far so good... Fingers crossed!

Re: Bye bye pacifier follow up...
Good luck to you tonight!! I am petrified of doing this. DS is almost 16 months and our pediatrician said he would like to see him "off" of it by 18 months. He was down to just having it in the car and for sleeping. Now it's just for sleeping....
Did you tell your DS that you were taking it away? Or did you just put him down for a nap and that was it?
