So, I've had some pretty rough m/s with this pregnancy this past week. I know it can still get worse, I will deal with it when the time comes. My question is have you had to explain to your SO/DH at all that the most important thing right now is keeping fluids down? DH is worried that I'm not keeping enough calories in each day for me or the baby. And I understand why hes worried, I'm just not really sure how to reassure him that this is normal when you are sick all day long and fluids are my saving grace right now. Food is good, but if its not staying down, as long as I'm drinking I feel like I'm doing ok.
Any ideas on how to explain this better?
Re: Morning Sickness and your DH/SO.
Tell him your doctor said (as long as he/she did, as mine did) that not keeping food down is ok. The baby will get what it needs from mom's body stores, that keeping fluids down is important because dehydration is the key risk.
Now if you do lose a certain percentage of your body weight and become malnourished they will hospitalize you. Trust me. I know.
Thanks!
Agree with what others have said. Baby gets their nutrients from you right now, not really what you eat. As long as you aren't malnourished and can keep liquids down to stay hydrated, you should be fine.
