Sick at home with LO

 Good Morning,
    I also posted this on the 3-6 mon board. So I am stuck in bed today with what I think is the flu. I almost NEVER get sick so this was a surprise. I'm pretty sure I know where it came from considering I hardly ever go anywhere since LO has been born lol but anyway….

I was feeling so bad that I didn't want to risk passing anything on to LO so my Husband decided to take the day off work and take care of LO so that I wouldn't be around him/get him sick. Im starting to wonder if this was a bad idea…DH doesn't have any sick time so no pay for taking off today and Im guessing other Moms who don't have a choice have to stay home with their LO's when they are sick. What do you ladies think? DId I do the right thing? What would you do? If you do have to stay home with LO when sick…how do you prevent them from getting sick as well?

    I don't get what you're unsure of. Of course if my LO was sick I would stay home with her so yes you did the right thing.

    I think I would have to be pretty sick to ask DB to stay home. I would be worried about him getting sick from spending the day around me, and then we'd both be sick.

    I'm a stay at home mom and get the brunt of sick kids. Unless I am physically incapable (on the toilet all day) I still take care of LO when I am sick. I have learned that even if I "stay away" from LO the germs are in the house and either they get it or not. We of course stress hand washing etc. more during these times.

    In the past two weeks 4 of our 6 family members got the 24 stomach flu that is going around in our area. Luckily me and LO we the only ones who didn't get it. But I still had to take care of the 3 kids who did get it and take care of LO at the same time.

    Very rarely has DH taken the day off because I was sick and he definitely wouldn't do it if he didn't have paid leave. 

    Babies are easy so he definitely never took time when DD was an infant. He might have taken a day when I had the flu this past winter. Or might have just come home early.

    No LO is not sick…I am. I am SAHM so if LO was sick then Im already here plus if LO was EVER sick I would never go anywhere.

    Thank you all. I guess I just wanted to see what other Moms would do in this situation. I said on the other board that I think I was just freaking out about LO getting sick from me because I'm a FTM. My sister would probably laugh at me right now lol. But since DH is home now I will just take advantage and rest.

    Thank you both for your opinions. It's not ever the opinion that matters just looking for what others do in the same situations.I guess I asked the question the wrong way. I shouldn't have said "Did I do the right thing?" I should have just asked " What would you do?"I agree, I will try and just get some rest since he is already here. I probably just felt guilty for keeping him home (even though he did not make me feel this way at all) So I wanted someone to make me feel better about it lol plus I really did want to hear what other Moms do in these situations. I probably freaked out about passing something on to him because I'm a FTM too. Normally, I would have thought it through and not sought opinions lol. Oh well.
