Looks like we'll be joining you on TTC this month and months to come! (I've been cross-posting for advice on my nursibg relationship w/ DD#1, and our desire to TTC soonish.)

Anyway, what kind of childcare do you plan on using for older DDs or DSs when future baby arrives? Our gal will be ideally about 2.5 or 3 years old when we have #2. We attend a parent participation preschool now, and they don't allow one to bring other kids or babies n the classroom.

Re: TTC ladies... Childcare plans for #1?

  • I am due with #2 in Feb and my plan to have DS and number 1 with someone at our house when my maturnity leave is over and then in September when I go back to work again, both will go to an in-home daycare. We will do this for a year and look at our options again when DS is 3.5 to see if we want to start him in a preschool. My ideal wish if for him to attend the preschool at my school so I can bring him and take him back to the sitter at lunch time. But that is far away.

  • I have no plans so far. We'll figure it out once we get there. I'm a SAHM right now, but work in the evenings. Right now, DH watches Nat while I work. I'm guessing this will stay the same for #2.

  • My DH is a stay-at-home dad during the day and works a few evenings per week when I'm home.  That will be the plan when #2 comes along as well.  I've got summers off, so we are both home then.  It works for us and saves us a lot of money for sure.

  • I work as a nanny and bring Lucia with me.  I'll bring #2 along as well when the time comes.  It will be a newborn along with a 2 year old, an almost 3 year old, and an almost 4 year old.  I think it's going to seem easier than when I had Lucia (had a newborn, a 6 month old, and a 1.5 year old).  That was so many babies!

  • I stay home currently, but eventually when I return to work we will most likely get a nanny. L will attend preschool and then we will have the nanny to keep number 2 and take L back and forth. My job requires me to be to work so early, a day care isn't an option.

  • DH and I work different shifts, I'm on first shift, he works second.  Right now he stays home with Allison and if/when #2 comes along that won't change.  Allison is in daycare from 2:00 - 5:00 every day but when #2 is in the picture we will keep her home as long as I am off work.  Then the same schedule will take over, home with DH until 2:00 then daycare until I get off work.

  • When #2 arrives in July...during birth my mom will keep Emily. She has only spent the night away from us once...so hopefully it won't be bad. For childcare new baby will join Emily at daycare...spot is already reserved after maternity leave is up. I love the ladies at daycare they are amazing.
