Bath seats

Is anyone out of the baby bath tub and into the big tub yet? Jack wants to play, play, play, splashy splash in the tub and not sit back anymore. The bath seat we had for this stage was recalled by Buy Buy Baby and the knock off one we bought wont stick because our tub has a slight non-slip texture to it.

Anyone using anything they love?

  • I got an inflatable one for the big tub that was highly recommended.

We have only used it one, it is supposed to be non slip and was working well.  He was sitting up and having a grand ole time in his first big boy bath.  Then his legs slipped out from under him and he went completely flat on his back and underwater....EEEK!

He was just a little surprised!

Ive still be doing the baby tub on the counter since then more because I use the kitchen sink faucet for rinsing since it has a detachable nozzle and it is so easy.  and I can stand and bath instead of hunch over the tub.

But he needs to get back in the big boy tub.

I am currently on the counter but the whole room gets soaked. He goes nuts in there. Bummer for me because I really enjoy not kneeling in front of the tub. That luxury is over!

I saw the laundry basket thing on Pinterest. Does it not float away? I am trying to picture doing it and it seems like it would float. Although I suppose once he is in it he should weight it down enough?

ETA: I saw that inflatable one, and I am glad you posted that. Because that is SCARY!

  • Once they are in it the laundry basket doesn't float away. Contains all the toys too. We just got like a $2 laundry basket at Target after our friends recommended it. S is just too long for the baby tub now.

  • I just let her sit for a few minutes and then lay her in the tub. I only put about 3-4 inches in it.

  • He sits on the non infant side of his tub but he is starting to get big. At my inlaws over the holiday we let him sit in the big tub with just a little bit of water and he loved it.  It was just harder to wash his hair. Ive heard a lot about using a laundry basket too. I havent tried it yet but have wanted to.
  • yhea the tub on the counter splashing is getting out of control, I get soaked, the counter gets soaked, I almost slipped on the wet kitchen tile getting him out of the bath the other night.

    those days are numbered.

I put his baby bath tub in the actual tub (I know it sounds dumb- a tub in a tub) but it works for us. I do have to lean over the big bathtub to bathe him but its not really a big deal.He sits up and plays with his toys while I clean him. Our baby tub came with an infant piece that we took out -its a whale of a tub I think its called. Next depending on when that is, we might do the laundry basket thing which I saw on facebook I think. For now this works although B does try to climb out so DH usually does the baths.
This exactly what I do, same tub and everything. I use a pad for my knees on the floor. It isn't too bad on my back so far.

  • I let C sit in the sink.
  • I also put the baby tub inside the big tub. My guy can't sit up yet so he still needs the baby tub. He plays and splashes in the baby tub. I'll move him to the big tub when he can sit unsupported.

  • I actually use the Summer Infant Super Booster Seat(activity seat). I just take the tray off and the foam orange insert out. There are straps to help keep him in and I feel more secure cause he can't fall back or too far forward. The only problem I have with that is getting to his private area and butt. After the water is drained I just lay him down in the tub and wash with a washcloth with soap on it then use just a wet washcloth to rinse the soap off.
I still use this with my 17mo because all he wants to do is try to climb out of the tub. In the next couple months I will be starting to put him into just the tub itself little by little.

This is what we do too!
  • I got a summer infant folding baby bath tub. It is great because the bottom blows up to make a cushion and he can sit up in it and play but not have to be in the big tub. We just sit it in the big tub and he plays away!

  • Ok seriously for Pete's sake. I have the whale tub and didn't know that infant thing popped out. This the 100th time that I have had a duh moment because I let DH read the manual and not me.

  • We just use the kitchen sink. I tried the laundry hamper but DD decided it was for her to practice standing up in. It started to tip forward and move up in the big tub. So that idea was out.

  • I just use the bumbo. She wants to get out of that though too so who knows what I'll use next
