Why so many different timelines for 2nd tri?

I will be 12 weeks tomorrow (Yay!), which I thought was the start of 2nd trimester and a little extra breathing room. But then I see things saying your not in the 2nd tri until 13 weeks 3 days? I also have a book that have month 3 until week 14......I am a goof ball and have been wearing white underwear and refusing sex until the 2nd tri! lol

Which is it?

    Technically, if you take pregnancy (40 weeks) and divide by three, you get 13 weeks and 3 days.  Some books round up to 14 weeks, some round down to 13 weeks.  Others say 12 weeks because it is right around the three month mark.

    I read that 12w is considered the developemental timeline for 2nd tri - all the major organs are present and from 12w on just developing.  13w3w is like JillRock said - 40w divided by 3.

    I have to know- what is the white underwear about?? :)

    We JUST had sex last week - at 12w... we were both too afraid to until then - and low and behold, I started spotting yesterday (days after the sex- so not from sex)... and now the doc said to hold off on sex for a while. Oh well!!

    Well, I figured if I wore white....I would not mistake any spotting if it occurred! lol I didn't want to wear dark, and have to wonder if it was normal discharge or spot!

    hey sweetie!!!  I was thinking about you this morning!!!!  How are you feeling????  I will be 13 weeks Tuesday, but last week I was measuring a little ahead, but I know that can happen!!  email me!!!
