Has anyone ever heard of a baby weaning from the breast at 7 months? LO seems to be doing that. He started with refusing the breast once or twice a day and now it seems like almost every feeding he's refusing the breast, but when we offer a bottle he guzzles it down. He was an exclusively breastfed baby until now. Would love to hear some thoughts on this. Thanks!
Is it a happy/indifferent refusal or an upset one? I read up on this a while back. The former indicates weaning and the latter a nursing strike. DS had a four day nursing strike, and I had to trick him back into nursing. The Kellymom website is a really great resource.
We went through a nursing strike a few months ago and it was rough. Just keep doing lots of skin to skin. Offer the breast but don't push it to the point where you are making baby upset. In the meantime, keep giving milk and pumping. Your baby NEEDS breastmilk at this point so it's really too soon for him to wean. Don't give up! Hopefully it won't last too long for you.

Weaning doesn't happen suddenly. It's a gradual process that really takes months if child initiated.
