Gifts for grandparents: share ideas

What are you getting or have gotten grandparents for holiday gifts that are baby related? I'm already doing framed photos but am having trouble coming up with any other fun ideas. My parents are first time grandparents so I think they'd enjoy something that shows that. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

  • This wasn't a holiday present but I got my parents a mug from shutterfly with 5 of E's pictures on it. They love it!

  • well we arent giving this as a gift but keeping it for ourselves--but Bed Bath and Beyond has these little kits to do an easy handprint ornament ($10).  You don't have to bake it or anything, just press out some lightweight clay-like stuff into a circle (there's a form you use) and then press LO's hand into it, and it comes with a ribbon and everything.  Air dries!  We made one for DS1 and I wanted to make one for DS2 also.  It's so special to look back and see how tiny their hands were :)

Also, we have made simple photo books through the various online photo sites like snapfish, etc.  DH pretty much makes one each year because he can't think of anything else to get his grandmas, but that's all they want anyway!

  • Put LOs hand prints in oven mitts, write"helping hands" on it. I got my parents a calender from shutterfly with DDs photos last Christmas. I'm getting my mom a bag with LOs' picture on it from shutterfly this year.

  • You could also take a Christmas ornament bulb and do a hand print on it.

  • If and or when they can talk on cue take them to build a bear and make an animal or snowman with a voice recording saying. We love you or merry Christmas. We did one years ago and it's so sweet to hear the little voices today Obviously for some this is a year or two off...

    Love this idea!

  • Each set of grandparents are getting homemade salt dough ornaments with LO's hand and foot print and the year. And then my parents are getting a canvas print of one of our family Christmas photos and DH's parents are getting a calendar of pics of LO.

With DS#1 we took his picture and printed it on overhead transparency paper in our inkjet printer.  Then I cut them out and put them in a clear glass ornament with that fake snow.  When they are on the tree, there picture shines through from the lights.  I'm searching to find a photo that will explain better.

    Edit: Kind of like this:
