I brush his teeth twice a day. I sit him in my lap and brush his teeth. He does drink a bottle in bed to fall asleep at night though. I just use a tooth wipe though after that bottle before putting a bink in his mouth and walking away.
We use a little store brand kids toothbrush. I usually just do a quick brush. She's gotten better with it and can mostly do it herself now. The pediatric dentist told me not to use kids toothpaste until she's older. She said the only purpose of them is to teach them to spit later.
Eh- I brush his teeth when I remember. Usually it's when I'm trying to keep him out of trouble in the bathroom while I'm doing his sister's hair and teeth. He loves chomping/chewing on the toothbrush.
What are you all doing to care for LO's teeth? Whether it's brushing them, or using a washcloth to gently rub them, what works best for you? Thanks!
i'm so glad you posted this, i've been wondering about this for awhile but didn't know if it was something people actually do. DS has 4 teeth and 2 more up top coming in. So it looks like we'll be getting him a toothbrush. He'll probably enjoy chomping on it too lol
DD has loved chewing on her little child's toothbrush for months and she just popped her first two teeth this passed week. I haven't done anything yet with the new ones other than let her chew on stuff on her own. She won't let me anywhere near them yet and just clamps her mouth shut tight. I did get one of these from wal-mart: https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Buddy-Babys-Toothbrush-Blue/dp/B001GIQVRG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1383925739&sr=8-3&keywords=baby+silicone+toothbrush and she LOVES it. It has been her favorite teething toy while her teeth have been coming in so far. I'm hoping I can just let her chew on that and her child's toothbrush for brushing and do a quick wipe down when she'll let me.
i'm going to the store today to get one of those!! DS has a teething toy that used to be his favorite but now shows no interests in it but i think he'll like that one!
DD chews on her toothbrush first thing every morning while I'm changing her. She chews on it again at night right after her bath while I blow-dry her hair (With no heat! Don't worry! It's just so thick now that it doesn't get dry on its own before bedtime)
I normally only brush once a day, in the morning. I sometimes forget though. His bedtime bottle is right before bed and he is normally half asleep when finished and he finds brushing his teeth funny so I'm worried if I do it after the bottle he'll wake up and want to play with it. Someone said they just wipe with a cloth after, I'll have to try that. He has 4 teeth now and I think he's teething again.
