Thawing frozen breast milk

Ok, who has a good method? I feel like mine takes forever and then looks funky and scares me to give it to my LO. Maybe I'm just looking at it when it's not completely thawed but since it's my hubby normally giving it to him, I don't see it ready to eat. Is there a good easy method? When I put it in fridge overnight it doesn't come close to thawing.

We run our frozen milk under water until it's thawed, pour it into a bottle and then warm the bottle in hot water.

  • I put it in the fridge overnight then in the morning (or whenever I go to use it) I run it under lukewarm water.  You don't want to use too hot of water... just enough to get it all liquidy again.

  • We just sit it in a cup of hot water until the ice chunks go away, and then put it in a bottle - normally it's at about room temp by then.

This exactly. I've read that the slower it's thawed the better.
I think breast milk always looks a little weird when it's separated out, does it mix ok once you've swirled it around a bit?

  • We use frozen milk on Mondays, so Sunday morning I put the bags into the fridge. After a few hours its starts to thaw a little, so I squeeze the bags to break it up a bit, so it can thaw a little faster. Then before I go to bed, I prepare the Monday bottles, I run it the bag under coolish water, pushing the ice up to the top until its all melted.

    This. :)

  • Keurig. Big coffee cup, pour middle size & let sit. Swirl in the bottle & test on wrist. You are good to go.

  • A tip I read last time was to thaw in a clean container in the fridge. This way if the bag leaks you won't waste milk.
