Re: Open Letter Wednesday

  • Dear Boss,

Thanks for being awesome and letting me work from home today. I was able to squeeze in a run this morning during the time I would have been commuting, and I'll be able to put in more hours today than I would of had I been in the office. I'll probably be more productive as well!

    Signed, Faithful employee

    Dear weather-

78 degrees yesterday and a sleet storm expected tmrw. I don't understand. My dad is flying into town and I have PTO next week. Please allow his flight to arrive/depart timely and driving conditions pliable.

  • Dear Needy Employee -

You are not my only responsibility.  I have 5 other direct reports, and enough of my own work for 2 full time jobs.  You're doing a good job.  I tell you constantly.  But demanding that I complete your review within 2 days when I'm booked solid with meetings to accommodate YOUR vacation schedule is not going to work out well for you.  Trust me.  Back off.  Oh, and I'm also not going to promote you over me.  I won't approve it, my boss won't approve it, and his boss won't approve it.  I inherited you for a reason.  Stop trying to snake around me.  Mmmmkay sport?

    Signed,

    Dear DH -

I miss you.  Why does everything fall apart when you leave?  Our healthy-as-a-horse DD1 now has a horrible bug that I thought might have been pneumonia, and DD2 popped a tooth.  Can you hurry home?  I'm tired already.

    Love, Pooped Wifey

    Dear Dr -

Please figure out why I'm having these dizzy/lightheadedness issues, and am losing my hair in clumps.  Even if you say it's stress.  I'll accept that as a diagnosis.  But the "more carbs/less post nasal drip" answer that I got from the nurse a few weeks back was unacceptable, especially since my bloodwork is pointing to something else.  Let's get a plan in place to make me feel better.

    Thank you!
