Birthday Part Fever!

I am already obssessed with DD first birthday party.  I have over pinterested (yeah its a verb now) way too many ideas.  I can't wait~!  I have this whole shabby chic party at our house in my head. DH is very much the opposite of me, he wants to hit up a pizza place and be done with it.  He is excited, but knows the party is more for me and not the baby and has this weird thing with not really wanting people in the house.  He likes social events anywhere but in his personal space.  He probably shouldn't have married someone who loves to entertain lol

Re: Birthday Part Fever!

  • Lol, it's kind of opposite here. DH is the one who is super excited. While I am excited too, I have THREE other birthdays in the three weeks prior to plan for, too. Mine is 1/29, DH is 2/9, C is 2/18, and E is 2/25.

  • I have been thinking about it a lot this week. I really wanted to do a penguin theme party. I was at walmart and they had this pack of plates and stuff with penguins on them so i grabbed them!

  • Add another to team lame. Immediate family will be there. We'll have subs, cake, and ice cream. There will be no decorations or theme. And I am perfectly happy with that!!

I'm the captain of team over pinterested. That being said I will have a theme (lady bugs), but most my stuff will come from the dollar tree or I make. I totally need to block pinterest..gives me way to many ideas.

being a party planner is my secret dream

  • I don't want to have a party, but DH is insisting and was talking about it in front of his parents; so now it has to happen. There'll be too many people to host at our house, so we'll have to do it somewhere. Dreading the whole thing. For me his birthday would just be the 3 of us, but that's not how ILs roll.

  • I love any excuse to have a party, so I am also planning on going overboard. He won't remember, but I sure will have some fantastic pictures from the event!

We're doing a bow tie theme. He's my little southern gentleman!

  • @TarheelMama202 You sound like a hoot!

We'll have a decent sized party at the house but not huge. Just some food and fun! I'll probably do jungle or monkey decor.

And there will be wine! (Obsv!)

  • Ours won't be too big but it will be monster themed

  • Seeing as our usual Sunday football get togethers are a 25 person affair, I know the boys birthday party will be about 50 people. In our house. With no space.
Besides the space issue I am do excited to plan! We are doing a dr Seuss theme (with thing 1 and thing 2 smash cakes). I love planning parties and I love Pinterest even more. The boys are used to having lots of people around so they may not remember it but they'll love seeing everyone!
  • I'm thinking about having the party at the office I used to work at since they have a big conference room (its where my shower was at too). Since my boss and most of the girls from the office will probably be at the party it shouldnt be an issue lol We are having a Willy Wonka theme! So excited!

  • We are having a joint party with dd and my niece. She was born on 2 days before dd. They live out of town with no family around, so they are coming home. We are doing a lady bug theme. It wall be family and just a few friends. Which has ended up being about 50 invited. Probably 30 showing up if I had to guess. I just ordered all the paper products! Really I had to order for dd's party which is on New Year's day so I got free shipping. I love to throw parties.

  • To avoid my sister over-pinteresting a party for DD I've opted to rent out a play space for $200 for 2 hours. I'm doing a facebook invite for any friends with kids. Cake only, no gift opening. Team Lame & Tame!
  • I'm Team Lame too. This year though, Mardi Gras is a few days before DS's birthday so maybe I'll just set up a little tent with food and booze on one of the parade routes and call it his party.
  • Sooo excited for M's first birfday party!!!

We're just gonna do a BBQ with some chicken and hotdogs at the small park that's literally on our street (it's soooo conveniently located) I want to make it super why themed. It's M's favorite show. I mean, he doesn't always watch it when it's on, but he goes bat crazy for the theme songs.

  • We are so excited. By "we", I mean mostly me, but my husband seems to be into my ideas too. He also loves to entertain. We haven't been entertaining in the past few years, so we are long overdue. Our theme is "winter wonderland" and I got a ton of discounted decorations today hitting up walmart/target after-Christmas sales. I just wish our house was bigger so everyone could have a spot to sit...

Yeah, but you live in NOLA which is just one big party! By the way, I'll be there January 13-15 for a work conference that I campaigned to go to. It's my absolute favorite city.

  • DH won, we are having a party in a private room at a local pizza shop.  But I can still pinterest the crap out of that little room and I won't have to clean up before and after.  I am a little disappointed thought because its only an hour and fifteen miniutes.  I am sure that is a long time to a 1year old though

@TamaraR4, this is us too. Two of my very best friends are 01/09 and 01/18. Then my 7 year old turns 8 on 01/20 as well as my husband's oldest turning 22 on the SAME DAY! Then his second oldest turns 19 on 01/22 and then Everett (DS) turns 1 on 02/08 and then my birthday is 02/27. I HATE THIS TIME OF YEAR.

And add me to Team Lame. I do have a clubhouse in my housing devlopement that I plan on renting out for DS's birthday, however, I haven't even thought about decorations, food or any of that!
