July 2012 Moms

What a morning....

Let me begin by letting ya'll know I'm sick. Like probably shouldn't be going in to work but have to.

I drop K off at MDO at 9 on Wednesdays and I go grocery shopping for work every Wednesday before I drop him off so that I am technically "working" at 8:00. Well, this morning K was an absolute NIGHTMARE at Walmart. I'm talking piercing screams because I dared to make him sit in the cart (as I always have, and its never bothered him this much before). I tried not to give in for the longest time, but eventually couldn't handle it and had to carry him around (all 28+ pounds) while pushing a full cart and trying to manage my list. Meanwhile, I am receiving texts from co-workers on items that they forgot to add to the list that are located in aisles I have already passed. I am super flustered, annoyed, and feverish and then of course I can't find half of the items people are requesting.

I finally get my crap together and get K to sit somewhat happily (ok, not happily, but not screaming at least) in the cart while I check out, and I finally sneeze the sneeze that has had my brain throbbing and eyes watering for the last hour and I pee my pants a little. I have no spare jeans and am going straight to work after dropping K off, so here I sit. Soiled pants and in need of a tall one. Its only 9:30. Whomp whomp whomp.

Anyone else had a lovely Wednesday thus far?

I saw your FB post and wondered what happened, that sounds awful, though I laughed at the pee'ing part :)

My morning didnt go well either.  Got up later than I shouldve, rushed to get stuf together and lunch packed. Get Austin up and dressed and have to carry him, the big pack of diapers, a pack of wipes, my purse and my lunch bag all out to the car while managing to lock the door.  Get to my car and Kyle (who was to put the carseat back in my car that he drove last night) did not install the carseat right and its way to upright.  So I have to put everything down including Austin (outside and we live on a corner so road everywhere) pull the carseat out, fix the recline and get it back in and secure all while watching him.  Get to daycare and I am carrying everything in, get in there and he cries the second I go to put him down *sigh*. Daycare told me NOTHING about what I need to do with this new room (do I need to bring his milk still, where do his diapers and wipes go, did my price change...nothing) so I am stressed.  I leave with him crying as I am going to be late as it is. Get back in my car and my gas light comes on (he was supposed to put gas in my car last night after driving it) sooo yea....can I drink with you?

Oh man. I feel like the 2 hardest things about having a toddler are 1) public tantrums and 2) never having enough arms. I feel ya. Yes, let's drink together. :)

  • YUCK!  Rough mornings all around.  I refuse to believe Kellen did all that after seeing him in the Target cart yesterday.  Quit fibbing about that baby. ;)

Shopping trips are pretty rough for us lately too.  This need for independence is tough to deal with.  Haha.  I have had a deep cough for about two weeks and have managed to pee on myself almost every day.  I need adult diapers.

Oh, no. I hope your day goes beter from now!

I had "fun" last night -  midnight -DS comes in to my bedroom while I am wrapping some presents for him(!) and tell's me he thinks he threw up.  He usually exaggerates and I don't see anything wrong with him - no fever etc, so I tell him it's ok  and walk him back to his room. OMG! He did threw up and it is everywhere - on his bed, on the wall next to his bed, on the floor and on every stuffed toy. FML! It took me a while to clean all this mess and now I am worried it is another stomach bug and we just recovered from one we all had couple of weeks ago....

Oh gosh. That sounds terrible. We had the same incident with throw up last week, only I didn't find it until the next morning. And then, over Thanksgiving, LO, my mom, MH, and myself were all throwing up with the stomach bug. Those things are no fun. I'm sorry :(

  • Oh god I dread the day em won't sit in the cart. Ugh! Sorry your day started out so crappy. Hope you feel better and the rest goes ok!

    Thanks.

And I know, right? Like what do you do with them when they won't sit in the cart but aren't old enough to handle walking next to it either? If I put K down he just starts pulling everything he can get his hands on off the shelves and throwing stuff around!

Also this is evil of me but it makes me feel so much better to hear I'm not the only one with a "spirited" aka handful of a child. My mom swears up and down we were never like this. And it stresses me out more. And I'm always sweating from literally wrestling with a toddler out in public. Yesterday we broke a necklace at the store (I paid for it) because she grabbed it, I went to take it, she legit fought me and wrestled me and it broke. It was so embarrassing and I wanted to kill her!

  • I have 2 under 2 and both of them seem to cry at the same time, or need something at the same time. My son is refusing to take a nap unless he's laying on me which causes DD to get upset because she follows me all around the house and wants me to play with her. Once I put DS down all will be calm for a few minutes, then DD is into something. Once I go get her DS is hungry. Suprisingly, when I'm feeding him, out of nowhere DD says "mama no bobo". Which I assume bobo is bottle since that's how I was feeding him. I have never heard her say anything like that.

Now DS is in the swing content for now and DD is happily playing on her own. Its naptime for her right about now and she doesn't seem tired in the least bit.

  • Have you ever put him in the basket of the cart?  I've started putting B in there when we get groceries and he's more content.  Of course it also means that he's throwing stuff I put in out, so I have to be careful where I put things, but that's far easier than a kid screaming bloody murder.

Emery makes me feel better too sometimes! LOL. There is typical toddler behavior, and then there is "spirited" toddler behavior. I have learned that if I give K something, I better be prepared to let him have it for a good long while because trying to get it back is like trying to wrangle a bear.

I tried this for the first time last night at hobby lobby! There carts are a little smaller, but he was constantly standing up and falling all over the place and throwing stuff, but it was still better than the screaming. I had too much stuff in my cart this morning to try that, or else I would have.

  • @jfresh I need to try that! K loves doing that with his stroller, so maybe it will work. I can't see it working for more than a minute or 2, but who knows. Thanks!

  • At our grocery store they have the carts with the car attached on the front they can ride in. So I put DD in there while I shop and she sits in it the whole time and turns the wheel and presses the little red button that is suppose to be the horn.
