Hi.  I'm Beth.  I'm pregnant again at 41 and due after my 42nd birthday.  I have been somewhat of a wreck emotionally because I worry about my age.  I see here that so many women my age have healthy babies and pregnancies.  The fact is though, my husband and I weren't even really trying.  We just got married in June and stopped using birth control shortly after.  Then I injured my back so we started using bc again.  Stopped using bc just about 2 mos ago and bam here I am.  7 weeks pregnant.

And we really want the baby.  We are so happy and excited.  We have I guess made the mistake of telling everyone we are so excited.  I am reading over and again how you shouldn't tell.  I don't know how a person does that!  Anyway, this fact has added to my paranoia that something's going to go wrong and I am going to have to "untell" everyone.  On the upside we did get a us confirmation of our little bundle and a fhr of 116 bpm.

Anyway, I guess I am just nervous and emotional and hopeful that this is going to work out.

    Congratulations and welcome!

    We also told early: at about 6 weeks! Despite the risks, we decided to just embrace the joy while we could. Your risk of miscarriage drops quite significantly once you've seen the heartbeat, so you're quite likely just fine. 

    It's easy for me to say--25 weeks into my pregnancy--that I have no regrets, but I'd like to think I would not have had any, anyway. We didn't think we were going to be able to have children; enjoying the moment of telling our parents and siblings we were expecting felt easily worth the risks. This is certainly a YMMV scenario!

    AMA & SAIF. TTC #1 since Oct. 2010. DX: Unexplained. BFP on break after 32 months trying and 2 med cycles. Baby girl born at 40w0d!

    Congratulations! I understand how difficult it is to contain the excitement! Somehow I managed to tell only my mom and my best friend early and waited with the rest of the family and friends until about 12 weeks. I am also 41 -- try not to worry too much about your age. Luckily I have a great doctor who is not one to freak me out about it at all. I don't feel like I am being treated any differently than a "young" mom, but since this is my first pregnancy I really would not know the difference!

    Congratulations!  Welcome and what you are feeling is completely normal and reasonable.  I am struck by a paranoid thought every once in a while, but the overwhelming joy is much greater!  I hope all goes wonderfully with your pregnancy!

    Me-41, Hubby-40.
    1st BFP-8/17/12!  Missed Miscarriage discovered @ 8 week US.  D&C.
    2nd BFP-2/13/13!  Blighted Ovum discovered @ 8 week US. Natural miscarriage.
    3rd BFP-5/22/13!  By early June, progesterone plummeting.  Another loss.
    August 2013 - started Donor Egg process, but surprise BFP with my own eggs.

    Welcome to the board. We told my parents immediately (day I took the test) but DH wanted to wait to tell anyone else. I'm 26 1/2 weeks now and all is going well however I know that had anything happened I would have wanted and needed the support of my family. Do what feels right for you and not what other people say. Congratulations!

    Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy :) It is a wonderful experience!!!
    Me, 41; DH 38; TTC since July 2012, 1st round of Clomid, BFP on 10/19, what an incredible blessing!  M/c on 7w3d; D&C on 11/30; 4th round of Clomid 100mg = BFP on 04/19!!! M/c #2 at 7w; D&C on 5/30, then repeat D&C on 7/1.  Saline u/s on 8/2, uterus looks great!  Will start TTC in 09/13 w/ Clomid 100mg. Surprise natural BFP on 8/25!!! Beta #1=95, #2=182, #3=404!  EDD 5/4/13...Grow baby grow!
