Recommend your lotion

My LO has red, dry skin on her face that I'm pretty sure is eczema. I put in for a personal day on Friday so we could spend the day together, so were gonna go to the doctor then too.
In the mean time what type of lotion do you use on your LOs face? I tried aveeno baby for dry skin and it doesn't seem to be helping. Just curious what you ladies use :)

  • Baby aquaphor.

  • Everyone on here kept mentioning Coconut oil, so I picked some up at the vitamin store last time I was there. I've used it on him a few times now after his bath (every other day) and his skin is so soft and the rough patches on his cheeks and rash on his neck from spit up are gone. Also nice to know its natural and edible now that he's noming on his hands non-stop.

  • Doc recommends Cetaphil Restoraderm. So far, it seems to be working.

  • I've been using coconut oil because her cheeks have been sooo dry and her forehead as well, it's worked wonders!
  • Use Melaleuca Renew lotion!

Another vote for Melaleuca Renew. Its like miracal cream.

  • We use Aquaphor and CeraVe. I prefer the CeraVe just because it doesn't make her so greasy. When we run out of those I'll switch to coconut oil.

  • Does coconut oil leave them greasy? All my kids have eczema, DD's is the worst, and I just can't seem to get rid of it. Aveeno eczema formula helps, but it never goes away completely.
It starts out kind of greasy because it's literally like slathering vegetable oil on their skin, but it absorbs fairly quickly.  It starts out solid (like Crisco kind of) but melts as soon as it warms up on your hands.  When I apply it after the bath I kind of use it as an opportunity to get in a little baby massage, too.  Also, it doesn't seem to stain clothes like other oils would.

  • It absorbs very quick and won't make the face look greasy but if your LO has long hair like mine does, her bangs get greasy, but if I'm going out that day I just avoid putting it on her forehead and just put it on the cheeks than put it on her forehead before bed. I actually put the oil on her face 2-3 times a day, we also use it as a full body lotion after her bath.
  • We also use vaseline.

  • I use grapeseed oil with vitamin E that I got at whole foods. Edible and so moisturizing!
