How clearly does your LO speak?

DS has a lot of words, and most are recognizable. Some of them are ones only DH and I get, or you can only get from context ("ninnow" for window, or "paka" for pancake, for example). He babbles a lot still and makes a strong effort to communicate, and I honestly understand about 90% of what he says, but I think that's just because I'm around him all day, lol.

Does your LO speak clearly, or is it mostly variations of words at this point?

  • She says "mama" clearly. That's it. And "mama" refers to me, but also to anything she wants. She'll point and say "mama" and that means she wants whatever she's pointing at. She only says four words though.

  • We are in the same boat, variations of words to communicate and I know what he is saying. Not too many clear words.

  • They say a few clear words but most are variations of the words. My favorite is Liam's name for Emma: "ya-ya". Not sure how he got that one! Elmo is "elbow".
  • Most of her words are pretty clear. Things like "off", "hot", and "aught" sound the same and you have to hear it in context.

She sure has "no" down pat though.

Same as pps, some are clear, others need our translation, and others only she knows . . .
Yup, this is us.  Our families were able to understand a lot of what he said over Thanksgiving, but some things required a little clearing up because they're words we use, etc.  I wish I understood what he says when he really gets on a roll.
