Analee name choice.

So, I'm just hoping for feedback. It's been really hard for my husband and I to decide on the name of our second daughter. Then, I saw the name Analee and I LOVE it!! Instantly felt like that was it. But, in sharing it with people, I've had such negative feedback and jokes about it looking like "anally" and that she'll be teased her whole life. I'm not very fond of spellings that involve a double "nn" like Annalee, but I do like Analeigh as an alternative. I don't know...I feel like you can make fun of any name. Should I just not care what people think, or should I consider alternatives? Anyway, any thoughts and input would be appreciated.

All I ever see in this name, regardless of how it's spelled - and especially so the way you have it - is anally and I would not do that to a person.

I agree that kids can find ways to make fun of any name, and usually I don't worry about it, but this is one case where I just would not do it. I mean, the word anal is right there at the beginning, either way you spell it (Analeigh does not make it better, sorry). And it's not just teasable, it's teasable in a really gross way. I understand how hard it can be for a couple to agree on names, but in this case, you really need to start from scratch.

Unfortunately, I too only see "anal" when looking at that name. What about Anneliese or Annabel?

I'm sorry, but all I see is 'anal'. Yes, any name can be made fun of, but that name in particular gives mean kids lots of ammunition, kwim? I'd go back to the drawing board.

OK. What if it did have the beginning as "Anna..." Would that be different? Annalee or Annaleigh...

How about Anna Lee/Leigh as a 2 part FN? This may not be popular around here, but I prefer the spelling Leigh for a girl...just not attached as a suffix to another name.

I would only consider Anna Leigh as a first/middle name. I would not smoosh them together. And ditto on the no to Analee/Analeigh.

My DD is Anna with the mn Leigh. I never, ever thought of that at all until I read it on here once and still don't think it sounds anything like anally. If you say Anna and then Anal outloud, they sound very different...so I don't think it's the sound, but that the word "anal" is in your spelling. I would rather change the spelling, or pick a different name.

Yes, to me it's the spelling of Analee that's the problem, so Annalee/Annaleigh would be okay. But honestly, they both look kind of unappealing and smooshy to me. I like Anna on its own much better.

Double n or not at all. I don't love it, but at least with the double n you avoid the association being so close. I really love the suggestions made by PP of different Anna- names, or even of using the Annelie spelling. So much better.

I have an acquaintance named Analisa, honestly I never saw anal in her name until she showed me a plane ticket where her last name was listed first and her first name was cut off into Anal. She said it happens a lot. I DID see Anal/Anally right away when I saw the topic of this thread. I vote Annelie OR back to the drawing board. Leaning towards the drawing board.

This name has come up a few times, and the "anal" thing is always mentioned. That is enough to scare me off.

A while back someone was asking how anyone can hear the name as "anal-lee" and I was wondering the same...until I heard someone with an accent calling his daughter by that name. Yup. Anal-lee.

I like the Annalie much more, though if you don't want to spell it that way I'd prefer Annalee versus Analee. Like the others mentioned, all I can say is the word anal. Sorry. What about Annalise/Annaliese?
