@jodegaard and whoever else: about milk-cow/soy/almond

@jodegaard, you lurking?

In a thread about milk a while back you said something about cows milk crossing the species line.  I had never thought of it that way and I've been thinking about that while nursing Em longer than the other two.
I bought Almond milk today.  I have generally stayed away from soy milk because of the estrogen.  I get the feeling you have knowledge on this matter!  School me!

  • Sorry, girl, that wasn't me! I said cow's milk is not a dietary imperative. The benefits of WCM drop drastically once it's been pasturized. And there are other avenues for fat intake. I just dislike the pressure that unless your kid is drinking a certain number of ounces of milk, then they are not getting the nutrients they need. It's simply false.

    We stay far away from soy.

  • Weird!  Where did I get that?  It must have been on that milk spiral.

    @brandyleighxx Soy in general is controversial but I also stay away from it, personally.

    One reason:

    "Soy contains large amounts of biologically active compounds calledisoflavones, which function as phytoestrogens… that is, plant-based compounds that can activate estrogen receptors in the human body"
