night routine

what is your night time routine with LO?  I'm looking to establish one in hopes of getting LO's nights and days corrected. anyone else have a baby with nights and days mixed up? Are you bathing LO every night?  The swaddling advice I got yesterday was great and it seemed to help some so I thought you smart ladies could help me again :)

Re: night routine

  • I wake baby to feed every two hrs so then he doesn't need to over eat at night. It works most of the time. If he over sleeps in the day and doesn't eat enough during the day, he treats nights like its a party!

I make sure and wake LO up every 3 hours during the day to eat (formula fed). Once he's up I try to keep him stimulated. If I don't wake him up he'll be up all night. If I can get him up during the day he seems to sleep in 4-5 hour stretches at night.

  • I have no idea how anyone has a routine for these LOs yet. We see some patterns --alert time in the morning and early evening, solid nap time from lunch to early afternoon, for example -- but everything else is mostly unpredictable still. You ladies that have a routine are amazing!

  • We have a solid pattern. It's not a routine by any means, but it is working for us. She gives us hell from 7 until 9 or 10. Then goes to sleep and wakes up every 3 hours to eat. It works for us and I try not to jinx it.

  • We need to get back to scheduled evenings, bath time, prayers, nursing, snuggle, bed.... Most nights she eels on me in the recliner. We take night sleep when we can get it.
  • The only night time "routine" we have is that we switch to what we call nighttime mode around 8-9 every evening; meaning, we turn the main light in our room off and go by the light from the bathroom, keep it quieter, and he goes into a Halo sleep sack.

Little Gabe makes the rules and we're just lucky at this point he seems to to back to sleep quickly during his 3 or so MOTN feedings.
