Car seat recommendations

What car seat do you have? And why do you like/dislike it? What do you look for at purchase?

Right now we have him in a baby trend infant seat. It fits fine but he gets so hot in it. He was 13 lbs on Halloween but is bet closer to 15 lbs now. Obviously we want one that will last awhile.

TIA!!!

Re: Car seat recommendations

  • Are you looking for a convertible seat? We have a Diono radian and a Britax roundabout 55 for my oldest. He's 3.5yo, about 46lbs and maybe 40in. He has a long torso and short legs.

The radian is nice bc it's narrow and we need to fit 3 seats across. It also has high RF and FF height and weight limits, so we've been able to get a ton of use out of it. It is a tall seat, so RF behind the passenger or driver can be difficult. They sell angle adjusters or we had him in the middle.

The roundabout is our "travel" seat. It's light and easy to install. But the height and weight limits are lower. It also is cheaper than the radian. My oldest has essentially outgrown this seat at this point, so we purchased a Britax frontier 90 which is a combo seat (you won't need that for a while).

Since you should RF for as long as possible, I'd look into seats w high limits. We've gotten about 3 years of use out of these seats, so IMO, spending some $$ to get something durable and good quality is worth it.

  • We had the graco snugride 35 when they were little and know have Britax Boulevards. I love everything about the Boulevards except that they're rather large.

  • Yes, a convertible seat. There are so many!!!!! I'm trying to do some research before making a big and hopefully long lasting purchase. The seat we have still fits great but he gets so hot that he's just uncomfortable and unhappy.

Thanks for all the input so far
