Did your LO get the flu shot?

Just wondering, I heard a lot of moms going back and forth about it a while ago. DH and I sat down last night and decided we wanted to get her one. At her 6 month check up today they gave it to her, basically without consulting me, and required that she get it. I mean I was OK with it, but I'm sure someone who didn't want their LO to get it would be pissed. Thoughts?

We are having Alexander get his since he has an older brother at school who will sure bring home the bug. He should have gotten it at his 6mo appt. but he was diagnosed with Bronchilitis and ear infection so he will be going back on the 10th for check-up for those and for his shots.

R got his yesterday at his 6 month appointment. The doctor asked us and I wanted him to have it. I got the flu last year while preggers and it was awful. But for the first time he had a reaction. His leg has a big hard red lump but I don't know if it was the flu shot.

DD got a slight reaction at her 4 month while getting her boosters. It could of been another shot, you never know

My LO got the flu shot and the doctors office asked if we wanted him to have it.

T got his at his 6 month appointment in the beginning of November. We're getting the booster on Thursday.

At our 6 month appointment the pedi did not ask or offer the flu shot.

Yes at 6 months and then we just went in last week for the booster flu shot. He seemed to do better with it than having it with all his other ones last time.

Yes, dd got her flu shot at her 6 month appointment. I also filled out a question sheet.

My ped has us sign a form indicating we give permission for the shots each time. I thought that was a standard requirement...but maybe it's only been the 3 peds we've used since we had kids? All 3 of my kids had their flu shots.

No, they never have me sign anything, or tell me what they're injecting. I always have to ask what she's getting like a second before they inject her.

Maybe you could ask at the beginning of the appointment since you know they will be giving shots?

@raw1299 yes you're right I'm not sure which shot caused the actual reaction. They didn't tell me what was in which leg. He slept all day and ate a little less. I'm hoping he'll be back to his normal self tomorrow

I don't really mean a second before, but when the nurse comes in to inject I ask her. I asked the Dr. today what she'd be getting, is she going to be getting the flu shot, and she said "yes we require it, and she'll be getting boosters". Generic statement about what shots she's getting.

DD got hers today (6months, 2weeks). We were asked if we needed/wanted it. She's in daycare so it's required.

I find it strange that they didn't ask or tell you. We too had to fill out a questionnaire. I forgot which one but the appointment before her first round of shots her doctor gave us a booklet that had all information on shots that they offer. When i go back for every appointment she reviews what she will be given. We were asked if we wanted to give her the flu shot at her 6 month appointment and was told it was our choice. We go back for the other half tomorrow.

Our pedi offerred it, and said she was relieved we wanted it. We're flying home for Christmas, and will be surrounded by friends/family/kids... I wanted him protected for the flight and all the social interaction.

Me and DD did they asked and I opted for it. My H got sick (he never got one) and we have both been fine. So I am glad we got ours.

We get our flu booster this friday, he had a reaction like this to the first part of it too, a hard red lump for about a week. There is still a very small lump if you feel carefully even a month later.

At first, our pediatrician gave us the choice and said for us to talk it over and decide. Then when she realized we would be traveling three times on a plane during peak flu season she strongly recommended LO get it. She also recommended it for us because my H is a physician and will likely bring home germs and so LO is at higher risk for exposure. Both these points were so valid that we decided to go ahead and have her get the shot ASAP. She just had part two about a week ago.

yep got it yesterday. Will go back right after the first of the year and get the booster. I had to fill out paperwork for her to get it. Also, she has a shot record at the pedi's office and I have to initialon every shot they give her.

We don't sign anything. The doc always tells us what they're giving him. This time he asked me if I wanted the flu shot and said it's recommended but since LO isn't in daycare not necessary. We are going to take him back for it. I'm one of the weirdos who don't like too many shots at once.
