Can I vent please?

Ok so I already had issues with my MIL before she came to stay with us...not only does this woman sleep until lunchtime, but she smokes like a chimney! I took her on some errands today and as soon as she got out of the car, she had to have one. Then literally as soon as we are out of the store (even if it was only 10 min) she lights up another. When she wakes, she has one cigarette while she takes out her dogs. Then she comes in, puts the dogs in, gets a cup of coffee and goes back out for another because she says she needs one in peace. She said she's doing better with her smoking because she said before coming here, she was smoking 2 packs a day. Ugh. She's also supposed to be another adult in the house to keep an eye on the kids but that's not the case at all. DH doesn't trust her because she's made some stupid moves...like giving LO a whole JUMBO marshmallow! WTF?! He comes around the corner with the whole thing shoved in his mouth! She naps all the time and here I thought I would get a little help...like someone to keep an eye on LO while I get some laundry done or a quick 30 min workout, but nope. So we just have another person in our house leaving all the damn lights on.

Yes she does. I make sure she keeps that away.

Just out of curiousity, is she disabled and not able to work? I would think the least she could do is help out around the house if she's not supporting herself in any way. Sounds like another child to care for and that's ridiculous. What does your husband say?

When her husband was alive and well and they had money, they were there for us so I'm trying to give the benefit of the doubt that she needs help. If it wasn't for her fibromayalgia, she wouldn't be living with us, she'd be with my SIL. But it's too cold in the mountains so she's here with us. She's already mentioned going to see my SIL and her kids and DH has already said when she goes there, she needs to stay there as he's already getting fed up.

She's being a little selfish and not wanting to work because she wants to go back to Mexico. She's here to get her house sold and get the money and go back.

Oh wow. I'm sorry you've adopted another child! Its such a stress having family like that..its almost as if they feel the world owes them.
If it makes you feel any better my mum can be the same way. I've never had a night away from LO..maybe 6 hours at most and to be honest I just get anxiety about whether she is stressing out watching her anyways.
I hope the rest of her stay gets better so you can get some peace!
