Pregnant and scared of not being pregnant! sounds crazy right

I am 40 and found out 6 weeks ago i am pregnant,because i am not sure of conception date i did a on nov 17 and saw an empty sac. My doc told me to wait another 2 weeks before doing another scan. But now am too nervous to go back because i really want this pregnancy. i was reading on line about something called a blighted ovum? i think thats the name. Has anyone ever experienced this?

My SIL had a blighted ovum several years ago. She went on to have a successful and healthy pregnancy a few months after. She was nearly 40 at the time all this happened.

However, there is an excellent chance all is good with your pregnancy and you're just quite early. I hope your scan in two weeks brings great news! Best wishes.

I had this happen to me in between my daughter and son. It was tough to get through but I did go on to have my son and I am pregnant again with #3. Good luck-- hoping you're just earlier than you think and that there's someone in there next time.

I had this too, I then got pregnant the very next cycle afterwards. They say that it generally only happens once. Hope you are just early with your dates.

I too have had a blighted ovum, then went on to become pg with this lo. I hope you do go in for another ultrasound and find a healthy pregnancy progressing. Ts and Ps

I can relate to this fear! I had it too. I am 41. It wasn't enough that 3 pregnancy tests came up positive as I kept reading about blighted ovum too. I also had some mild spotting early on and ended up in the ER. They gave me an ultra sound where cardiac activity was observed as well as a fetal pole. On my follow up with the OB I was given another tvus and the heart rate measured 116 bpm.

I was happy that my fears were just that. I was told that in early pregnancy sometimes it is just too early to tell--and maybe for you that is the case. I know for me it is hard to remain positive especially when you're hit in the face with the statistics...I'll be praying for you hon. HUGS

I had a blighted ovum dianosed in June. I had a d& c on June 17th. I got pregnant again in July. I did a lot of research while I was waiting to see what was going on. I found that there are a lot of situations where conception dates are off and the u/s was just performed too early. I had this happen earlier this year. I went in at weeks 5 and 7 to find only the empty yolk sac. Now I am 16 weeks pregnant.

Well ladies, i did the scan on wednesday and a d and c today. Hopefully ill be back in the message boards again. Ill try again next year! Thanks guys for yourkind words, thoughts and prayers
