Short term disability / paid out

I know we have several threads on maternity leave and fmla pre-baby arrival... Now it is December and how's everyone's disability being paid? I sent mine in for 2.5 weeks but received a letter that they were sending me a lump sum for the 6 weeks allowed post my elimination period. It was a pleasant surprise! I had sent the paperwork to do direct deposit but it will be sent via paper check today. (I called to check because the letter was postmarked the day they said they were releasing funds.) By Friday I should be able to confirm the paid out lump sum.

Re: Short term disability / paid out

  • Mines being paid out every two weeks on the Fridays I would normally get paid. It's direct deposited in my acct. The first one was delayed a week but it's fine now. It was delayed because they were trying to call me to verify something and I never called them back. I have three places contacting me throughout all this since that's how my job handles this kind of leave so I didn't know I hadn't called one back. Once I spoke with them and answered the questions it was approved and they put my pay checks through. I'm covered for 6 weeks and then taking my two weeks vacation but had to use all my sick days before my leave started. I think every company is different.

  • I live in CA, it's been every 2 weeks direct deposited into a BofA acct that was set up by the EDD. Ooooohh I'm going to miss getting paid to stay home in my PJ's all day with my little angel.

I'm still on PTO before my STD kicks in, but I'm pretty sure I just keep getting my normal pay.  I hadn't honestly thought about it too much.
this.  i confirmed with the company that we were all set with the paperwork, and expect to just keep getting paid.

  • Mine is supposed to come once a month. I just met the elimination period yesterday though, so havent received my first check yet.

  • Still organizing mine, but the UK system is somewhat different. I had to apply for and be rejected for other benefits first and prove I'm a tax paying freelancer. I'm just hoping it gets paid this side of Christmas, but that hope is getting rather slim.

  • Mine was paid in 1 lump sum, via Mutual of Omaha. They were pretty fast!
