Weird things kids eat

I thought I would start a funny post talking about all the weird things our children eat or have tried to eat.

DH was watching Hannah the other night, and she found a scrap piece of my yarn on the floor, so of course put it in her mouth, by the time he got over to her to try to fish it out of her mouth, it was gone lol.

Also she likes to bit my toes... gross. And painful!

E ate dog food. Well, she put it in her mouth but I got her to spit it out. She also tries to eat flowers.

Paper!!! Napkins, paper towels, take out menus, Church programs, printer paper.....you name it-she tries to grab it and shove it in her mouth!

DS2 ate an M&M off the floor of a bar Saturday morning. Yuck! (Don't judge me, I was there for a football game, the only one I have to watch per year in the terms of my marriage.)

DD stuck a paper napkin in her mouth the other day. She's teething so everything goes in in the hopes of providing some relief.

DD1 ate canned cat food when she was 9mos old, but to be fair it does look a lot like baby food.

DS will suck on a wipe if he gets ahold of one. I watched him eat a napkin and didn't stop him right away - part of me was thinking, he's sick and hasn't eaten much, this has to count for something, right??

Sophie does that too...I'm not sure if it's a big deal or not so I take them away when she does it.

Ya Hannah also tried to eat wipes... oh children lol

M is a major mother - everything goes into his mouth, except the foods I cook! The list of things he has tried to eat is long...

Any paper/magazine

Pebbles/rocks

Mulch

Grass

Uncooked rice

Dried beans

Cotton balls

Anything that resembles sticks, plastic utensils, cinnamon sticks

I have to be very vigilant every time we are out and about (or visiting others), as he really puts everything in his mouth.

We go to class once a week and they have a rice sensory table and a dried beans sensory pool. Other babies are happily playing with the rice and beans with their hands or scooping, but M just stuffing handfuls of rice and beans into his mouth. I kept stopping him and fishing the stuff out of his mouth, but it is a losing battle.

K keeps rolling over to the Christmas tree, grabbing a low branch, and trying to get it in her mouth. I am not sure if it is better or worse but our tree is fake. DS thinks it is funny and bites the tree to imitate her.

Whenever I try to read K&A a book the grab for it and start crying until I give them each a book to chew on. I tried giving them each a book and reading a third but they throw theirs aside and try to get the book I am trying to read in their mouths.

DS tries to eat the cat food all the time.

Yesterday after I changed K's diaper I put it aside and started to change A. Somehow K got ahold of her dirty diaper and was chewing on it! Luckily I fold them up tight so none of the stuff on the inside was exposed but still - yuck! Guess I have to make sure I put the dirty diaper from the first far, far away while I am trying to change the second.

DS2 puts everything in his mouth. He then pulls it out, looks at it, and either puts it back in or gives it to me. Paper and leaves are his special favorites.

DS1 likes leaves, but doesn't put much in his mouth. But, we did catch him dipping a grilled cheese sandwich in ketchup the other day. Gross.

LO loves to run over to the dog dish and pop a few pieces in his mouth, pretty sure at this point its just to get the reaction out of me when he does it! So I am trying no to spaz, but ick! He is a finger sucker, so I am constantly grossed out when I know he's touched something gross and then goes to suck his fingers!
