My son will be starting daycare in about a month. He will be 7 months old when he starts. Besides a couple hours of shopping by myself once in awhile, he has been with me everyday since he was born. He will only be going to daycare 3 days a week, but it will be for almost 10 hours a day. I am very blessed and have found a wonderful in home daycare and there is only a couple other children and a baby that is 1 month younger than my son who will be there on his days. I'm worried the transition will be very hard for him since he has been with me, so I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on how to make this smooth for him and me. I have thought about taking him there a couple days a week for a few hours before I start back to work so he can get used to the daycare but I'm wondering if that is even helpful for him. I was also thinking about writing down his eating/napping schedule, and things he likes. I figured that would be helpful for the daycare.
Re: Starting Daycare
As for you, keep dropping him off short and sweet. Yes I know its hard, but the quicker you leave, the quicker y'all can get over the initial reaction to leaving each other. The longer you stay, the more upset he'll be, which in turn will only make you more upset! Unless you get lucky and have a baby who's okay with strangers lol
Either way you'll both get used to it!! Good luck to you both!!!
