Baby Blues

Hi I'm new in this group. I'm coming over from High Risk and Pregnant After 35. My baby girl arrived Saturday, November 16. I couldn't be any more happy about that. It's just that now I'm suffering from hemorrhoids, an episiotomy, and swollen feet and ankles(not severe but noticeable). I just don't know what to do. This is my fourth child so it's not like I don't know but I've been having serious crying spells. I don't like feel sore and unable to do much. It's the pits!!!

Re: Baby Blues

  • Thank you. Tylenol and Motrin has been part of my pain management. I had a vaginal delivery and it wasn't so easy.

Sorry you're feeling rough. Just remember, this too shall pass. After my section last week, I didn't even have cankles, they were tree stumps. But each day, the swelling has gotten better and better until yesterday it was completely gone. Keep those feet propped up as much as possible and stay on top of whatever pain management you have, even if it's just Tylenol/Motrin. Hope you start feeling better.

  • I definitely slept a lot today. I have three other children(16,10,5) and although I have help, I've been moving around a lot to make sure they're together for school, etc. Also I'm a nursing mom and my 5 day old baby wants to sleep all day, but she's up all night. Of course, I'm feeding on demand too. Talk about worn out.

I would cry when the dog wouldn't sit when I asked so I get it. It's normal to feel bummed. Try to get fresh air and sleep as much as you can :)

Hang in there, like PP's said, this too shall pass. Warm showers rocked my world when I first had LO, made me feel like a new woman.

  • Yes I've noticed how soothing the warm showers are. And I will turn on soft music on Pandora which has helped a lot.

  • Welcome and congrats! And I'm sorry you are struggling! I felt pretty emotionally unstable for almost a month. It helped to have friends bad family to talk to. And honestly the middle of the night was super lonely for me and TB really helped me not feel so alone! We are here with ya!! It will get better!

    Good, glad to hear it.

  • I had my first on november 13th... about the fourth or fifth day, I started crying randomly! I would sit on the couch and just cry and cry. I would just get this overwhelming sad feeling for no reason! I couldn't explain it, but it was an awful feeling. It got worse as the night got closer because I knew I was going to be sitting up all night, sleep deprived. Hormones are a crazy thing but it has gotten so much better!! It was about day 14 when I started to notice I was feeling more like myself. Hang in there, it will get better!!!! It really helped me to talk about it with people and I realized how many other people experience the post partum blues!!! It's an awful feeling, but it gets better! I promise!
