hello new to this board. baby born at 30w6d

Hi my name is cassandra, husband is travis, I have been following my bm board feb 14 for awhile now but Bristol Catherine decided to make her debut much earlier then we thought!

She was birn at 30w6d december 1st at 3lbs 8oz and 16in long. I would post a pic but I am not familiar with the formalities of this board, I will do such if someone cab tell me it's ok.

So far she is doing well with the cpap and is in one of the best nicu in michigan, the expect her to be here for 6 weeks for now.

I am more then willing to answer any gtky questions you might have about me or Bristol aswell. I look forward to learning as much as I can from this board.

Glad to have you but sorry you had to join us. Yes, picture please!!!

For now it'd probably be best to just take it day by day and not think about a discharge time frame. It's going to depend on so many things and vary daily for awhile.

Spend as much time as you can at the NICU but don't forget to take care of yourself too. We were super close so after a few weeks we cut down our visiting time on weekends to allow a little more time at home. Otherwise I did two visits a day during the week. It gets tiring after awhile.

Kangaroo care - do lots of it when they allow you too. It'll help you as much as the baby. Daddy can do it too. My DH was hesitant but loved it once he tried it.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! I'm sorry you have to join us, but this is a fabulous group of very supportive ladies. My DD was born in May at 31 weeks 3 days due to HELLP syndrome and weighed 3lbs 11oz. She spent a month in the NICU - one week on CPAP, two days under the bili lights, and the rest of her stay she was just a feeder and a grower. Like PP said, try not to think about discharge date, just take it a day at a time. I wish you a short and uneventful NICU stay!

my daughter was born at 30w due to pre-e/HELLP and was 2lb 3oz. We were on cpap too and she's home now but still on oxygen.

Wishing you an uneventful NICU stay!
And as others have said, just take one day at a time, don't focus on a discharge date or you'll drive yourself crazy!

We did great! Her o2 levels stablized when I held her too. Plus I was able to pump and get a little for her to feed on even though I've been told it could take upto 5 days!

Oh yay!! She looks great. So happy you got to hold her. I'm sure that was emotional. And glad to hear about the pumping session. Keep it up. It takes time and patience but totally worth it. Thanks for the pic!!!
