Re: Pregnancy Check-in
I am 13w6d today. EDD 6/3/2014.
I STILL have this stupid cold. I was most miserable Thurs-Sat, and felt ever so slightly better yesterday. I slept a little better last night as well, and today I am still congested and my voice is still scratchy, but my throat isn't sore and my cough seems to be better. Hopefully, this means that this thing is finally on the way out after a full week. I have been taking mucinex at night to sleep and natural cough droups to ease my cough and sore throat, and I will be very glad to stop taking both. I fought having to take anything, but when I called my Dr last week, she yelled at me and told me it would be better for me and for baby to get some relief and some rest. So I caved and bought the mucinex.
Other than my cold, I don't have much else to report. I had some nausea last night around bed time, but that was the first time in almost a week, and it seems to have passed overnight. My only consistent "symptoms" now seem to be heartburn (I get it several times a day w/ no rhyme or reason) and fatigue (hoping that eases up once I am done fighting this cold).
QOTW: The best part of being pregnant so far for me has been the ultrasounds we have had when we got to see our little one moving around. These are reminders that this is real, and that baby is healthy and active. 3 more weeks now until our next ultrasound. I hope it goes by quickly! In terms of the next milestone that I am most looking forward to, that would be finding out the sex of the baby (which we are hoping will happen at our next ultrasound in 3 weeks). I will be 1 day shy of 17 weeks that day, and the OB seems optimistic that she will be able to tell if baby cooperates

18weeks 6days due April 29th
Feeling pretty good in general this past week. Major symptoms would include itchy skin (so annoying) and heartburn. The aloe juice works wonders for the heartburn when I remember to take it. Baby continues to move, I don't feel him all the time, just randomly throughout the day. I feel a lot more confident in this pregnancy now, partly because I'm near the 1/2 way mark, and partly because of the movement.
My next appointment is in a week or so for my a/s scan. I need to make an appointment still.... Ooops I'm looking forward to seeing baby again for what might be the last time until he's born.
I feel like I'm starting to "nest" a little more. I've been thinking about things like cloth diapers. Kaden is cloth diapered and I love them. Now that he's older we use a natural disposable called Naty Diapers for overnights (and when traveling) but he's mostly in cloth. I just don't have enough for 2 kids - especially if 1 is a newborn - so the hunt begins. Having a second child is really nice in a way because we have the co-sleeper, swing, changing pads, and clothes. There are a few things I want to get that were lost/broken or I more recently discovered, but in generally we're so prepared :-) It takes a little bit of the fun out of being pregnant - BUT it is cheaper ;-)
I recently watched the Business of Being Born again and have been reading birth stories. I feel excited (and a tiny bit nervous) about embarking on another birth. Reading @ATXmommas birth story was really inspiring. I'm really looking forward to meeting Owen for the first time in April/May :-)
QOTD: Hands down feeling baby move. Second to that were the u/s I feel so reassured seeing him move around in there and I feel like its such a privilege to catch a glimpse of their little world pre-birth
For the most part, my only symptom is fatigue. I slept a LOT over the holiday weekend. I have very occasional, very mild moments of nausea/gagginess and did throw up into my mouth a little this morning while brushing my teeth, but it's not really anything I would classify as full-blown morning sickness.
QOTD: I would say at this point the best part of being pregnant is knowing it might end in a baby, but since I'm still not too confident about that, I am trying to keep my expectations in check. Ultrasounds are fun once I'm there (assuming all is well) but I get so anxious beforehand that I can't really enjoy the experience. I am looking forward to hitting 2nd trimester, as well as getting the results of our Harmony or Mat21 test, since hopefully that will tell us a) that the baby does not have any of several trisomies and b) whether it is a boy or girl.

Not much new on this end. Having a hard time sleeping these days, no position seems comfortable. My poor wife has to deal with my collection of pillows that somewhat help the situation lol. I'm feeling very big lately,I can only imagine how big I'll be in April!
The best thing thus far has been feeling baby move. I am looking forward to DW feeling baby also
I am 7w3d today EDD 7/19. I am exhausted, I had my first prenatal appointment this morning and came home after that and slept until 4pm. I am in bed most nights pretty early and spend days yawning at work. I go in for my next appointment on Jan 9th and I get to see the baby again! I have told my sister the news but am terrified of how my mother will react. Which makes me said because I want her to be happy/excited and don't think she will be. Fingers crossed she surprises me.
QOTW: So my best friend has taken to dropping off presents on our door step since I told her I was pregnant. It is so much fun opening them with R and reading the cards. We have already decided to save all the cars to show the little one some day.

The best thing I've experienced about pregnancy so far is the bond that J and I have forged since conceiving our LO. The fact that we created a whole new person together, plus the sharing of our secret, have made for an incredibly special new bond in our marriage.
I love how adorably protective my wife is - she's already talking to my tummy daily and forbidding me from lifting anything more than five pounds or so (she even looks suspiciously at my laptop bag!). However, since we have to move in two weeks, this gets me out of the bulk of that, and I am not going to complain!
First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
