DD is 20 months old, has always had tons of hair but I've never taken her to get a haircut. From the time she was 7 months (told you she has a ton of hair) I always put her hair in pigtails with cute bows and I would always clip her long bangs back with a cute clippie. I have trimmed the back myself but I've never really done a good job. It always comes out uneven but again, you can't even tell when her hair is up in pigtails.
Lately she doesn't want to wear anything in her hair. No pigtails, no bows, no headbands, not even a clip to bring it away from her face. It makes me sad. It's long enough that I can tuck it behind her ears but it still looks pretty messy most days and now that it's always down you can really tell how uneven it is in the back. I tried to fix it myself the other night and I think I made it worse.
I was thinking of bringing her to one of those kiddy places. There's one by my house that got mixed reviews. Some people love it and some people did not like it. I just don't want to pay a lot of money for them to chop it up and do a bad job since I doubt she'll stay still for it.
Re: share your first haircut experience
My DD refuses to wear anything in her hair, too, and her hair is like mine - lots and lots of really fine hair. She wanted it long and no bangs but we compromised with just past the shoulders and long sideswept bangs. She can swipe the bangs out of her face with one hand and it works out really well.
