I'll be 8 weeks pregnant on Wednesday and I have my very first doctors appointment. Will I hear a heartbeat and get an ultra sound at 8 weeks? I'm pregnant with my first baby so I'm very new at this
I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and heard the heartbeat. That being said, not every doctor does one at that point. You can always call the office and ask about what to expect.
I've already had one appointment where they drew blood, talked about family history, and gave me a lot of information about Dos and Don'ts. My next appointment will be at almost 8 weeks and is an ultrasound, which the nurse said they schedule for anyone that has experienced cramping. Then I'll have my first OB appointment where I'll have a pap smear, breast exam, etc.
Agree with PP's, it's dependent on your Dr. and circumstances. I'm consider 'moderate risk' or whatever they are calling it so my Dr. scheduled one.
As for hearing a heartbeat I've heard various responses on this - you may not, and if you don't it doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong. Your Dr. will talk you through.
I'm saying this knowing that if I don't hear the heartbeat tomorrow I may freak out internally. I'll try to take my own advice....which always works.
