Going back to work

I only have one week left and I'm so depressed. I work far from home and DS will be staying with my mom who also lives far away. Between a half hour drive to my parents and an hour long train ride to work I will be away from him for 13 hours a day. Anyone else have to be away from their LO this long and if so, please tell me how you're coping!

    I have a little bit but also have an hour and half commute and have an extra part time job once per week where I work like 13 hrs plus the commute. I'm so dreading all of it. I've been applying to closer jobs even though I love mine. No advice just letting you know we are in the same boat.

    -My step-daughter is 12 years old.

    -BFP #1 on 9/2/12, D&C 10/18/12 no heartbeat on US @ 10 weeks.

    -BFP #2 on 1/7/13, R was born on 9/22/13 via C-Section

    I went back to work last Monday.  Today is my first full week back.  I have a 45 minute commute to work and like you my mom is watching my little one and they live about 20 minutes away from me.  I also will have long days away from LO.  Last week was a short week and I left early every day!  I will really see this week how I will cope with being away from LO.  The first day was awful and I cried everytime anyone mentioned Caleb.  Tuesday and Wednesday were better.  It's tough but it is nice to know he is being watched by family.  Enjoy your last week of maternity leave and good luck to you.

    I went back to work last Monday and it was definitely hard! For this month (Dec) LO is with my FI and sister, but starting in Jan he is at regular daycare which makes me really sad. I will say though that leaving this morning was easier than it was last week. I hope you enjoy your last week off!

    I have to drive an hour to drop LO off at my parents and then 40 minutes to work, we'll be moving closer to my parents soon so that will help.  It was hard at first, but is getting easier as we get into our little routine.  I do like having a mirror on the back seat since were stuck in traffic most of the time we just coo at each other for an hour.  We've been doing really quick dinners so I don't waste time cooking instead of hanging out with LO.
