Hi all. I was just checking in to see what everyone was buying their LO's daycare teachers. My sister in law works at my son's daycare so I am doing a gift card, lottery ticket, mini bottle of wine, pocket bac and holder, and chocolate truffles for her and the other main teacher and everything but the gift cards for everyone else.
Re: Daycare teacher gifts
I think $25 is plenty. That is what I am doing for the two infant room teachers, and for pre-school teachers I am doing a small gift basket with lotion, bath gel and stuff which was more like $15 each. Between those gifts and bringing in coffee and pastries for everyone else it's like $100, which seems insane but I feel like I'm doing the bare minimum!
melOHdy you kind of have to gage your teacher with the baked goods thing, some people have issues with accepting home made food gifts. You might be better off getting store bought and doing like a little basket, a thing of cookies, popcorn, and a $5-$10 gift card to the movies.
Our babysitter is one of our former daycare teachers so she gives me the skinny on what all the teachers like

Shit I just made my list of teachers we have to take care of, and because Bradley is moving up to the next classroom this week I've got EIGHT teachers to gift...I'm gonna do
$25 Visa Gift Card
Bath & Body Works Lotion and mason jar candle (cyber Monday sale)
Mini bottle of Cham
wrapped in cellophane
Can any current/former daycare teachers let me know if this is good?

You can never go wrong with a gift card and alcohol!! I also love B&BW candles, so I think your choices are great!!
Are you getting all of that for each teacher? I would be more than happy with just one of those things.
Yeah I'm gonna get it for each of them. I friggin love our daycare teachers and would bring them cookies every day if I could...they deserve all of it if not more...
Side note: ever since you have been my secret santa I have been stalking you

yeah, it works out to about $40/teacher. I don't think it's the norm by any means, and I think your gift basket idea is a really great way to not spend a lot of money and give something thoughtful. Honestly, I think most teachers would be happy with a heartfelt card saying thank you. Just the recognition and appreciation of the parents is what they want (or at least that's what I tell myself)
@melOHdy
I agree with @wasnotwas. I honestly don't expect a gift from anyone, but appreciate being thought of. A simple card with a nice note always made my day! My students were pre-k and elementary school age, and I loved when the kids would write a cute message or sign their name in a card.
If you're comfortable with a $10 gift card, I think that would be great. They're easy for you to pick up, and the teacher can get what he/she wants. I used to buy for the secretaries, custodians, assistants, and principal at my old school, so I know the gifts really add up!!
