Re: If you could splurge on one baby thing

  • As a STM - I say the stroller. Having an awesome stroller that fit our lifestyle was so worth it. I would also strongly suggest a huge splurge would be a mini-van - can't beat the sliding doors and the power liftgate, and room for every conceivable baby thing you need to cram in there with you :)

    Married 08.06
    Started TTC 05.08
Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
    DH: perfect
    1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
    2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!

  • For me it would be the stroller (we are splurging for this baby) but we use ours every day. If you don't use it every day I would say the glider. A comfortable rocker and ottoman is a must for nursing for me.

  • Yeah new car would be nice.

I'd love a recliner. We have one that someone gave us, it is ok. I'd really like a new comfortable one for bf.

  • Currently loving the vienne crib from Restoration Hardware... Trying to justify $1250 for a crib but I know I'm being a little ridiculous.
Ashers crib was a grand.  good cribs are worth it.

  • All I really want is a Girasol woven wrap. Under $200, so not even that big of a splurge! Other than that, I could go for lots of professional photography sessions.

    A nanny.

Better throw in a maid and cook since we're splurging.

    Amen.

  • Staying home with my munchkins.
  • Newborn photo session (we didn't have any taken with DS and I still regret it to this day) and definitely a stroller.
  • Maid service. I think I have DH talked into monthly maid visits for a year as my big Christmas gift this year. Weekly would be totally amazing, but monthly would at least keep me from falling behind with a difficult pregnancy and new baby.

     Dum spiro, spero.
  • Realistically: A double jogging stroller that actually fits in a car trunk. (Anyone know of a good one that isn't horrifically expensive?) And a baby swing. Didn't have one with DD and we made it work, but I think it'd be nice to have for this one.
Unrealistically: I would love a house with a yard for my kids. My little town house apt is nice, but I can't wait till DH graduates, gets a job and we can settle down in a house.
  • Wet nurse. So much sleep.

  • I'm getting a good stroller this time & ordering a very nice mattress for DDs crib that will most definitely last through her & this baby at minimum. That I will hopefully be here by the end of December if my boss orders it tomorrow. Since we're not doing a nursery for this baby I have a bit of cash that I can out into upgrading our current gear so it'll last.

  • Outrageous splurge: a bigger house.
Big splurge: a minivan or SUV.
Medium splurge: a nice double jogger travel system.
Little splurge: an Arm's Reach cosleeper.

  • The Uppa Baby stroller. I love them.
  • Last night I set out to find the perfect rocking chair for LO's room. We're looking for mid-century modern style--of course all the ones I LOVED were $1000-$1600 and that just seems ridiculous.

  • A BOB duallie since I love our single, but I can't justify it, especially since I want something smaller than a jogging stroller as well for shopping, etc.

  • I'd love an amazing chair that rocks and reclines and is all smooshy and wonderful for nursing.

That, and a village, as in "it takes a village to raise a child."  Only partly kidding.
  • I agree with pp, STM all the way!

  • Ok...Definitely a house and more baby-friendly vehicle.
But I've been eying the Sakura Bloom Wraps for a couple of weeks now.  They aren't astronomical, but on paupers wages it's a bit tough to justify.

I'd also love a nice stroller/car seat set.

and maybe a boob job after all's said and done.  i haven't heard good things from the other side.
  • I'm with everyone on the whole maid/nanny idea.....sign me up!

More realistically....I found a carseat the other day that I love, love, love, but it is double the price of most of them....

I also want to do cordblood banking....

    Oh, and birth photography :)

  • Can I just splurge on all things involving baby? Yep... that would be nice!
But seriously, I have no idea what ONE thing I would splurge on.
  • Honda odessey with Vac or a bob double stroller
  • Meals made for me and a Maid once a week for the first two months.

Haha!  I saw a commercial for this the other day, didn't even pay attention to what type of car it was, and said to DH..."I want that!"  He laughed because he knew it was just because it had a vacuum in it.

We spent close to that on our crib. I think we had 2K between the crib and dresser but we got great quality stuff from Amish Country and the crib becomes a full sized bed headboard/footboard.

  • This time around we'll probably splurge on a stroller but will also have a good chunk of change wrapped up in crib/dresser again.

  • I'd love a good swing/infant seat. I know not a huge spender. But if I could spend on anything it would be adding the second floor to our current house so that we had enough space for a baby and a guest room.

  • That crib is gorgeous!!!!
  • I've been thinking about this and I think I'd like an unlimited budget to decorate not only the nursery but the kids rooms. I'm pretty good at decorating and designing but I wish I had more money lol. I'm fine with everything we have for gear and whatnot.

  • I feel like we DID splurge on our stroller, and I don't think I would do that again. Then again, we don't walk around town too much, and when we go to stores we put DS in the cart on the seat. Whatever you choose to splurge on, make sure it's something you'd use daily. The money you spend on convenience, quality, and ease of use will obviously pay off if you're using it every day...whatever it is.

  • After much research we splurged on the glider recliner. It's upholstered and will look great in any room of the house if needed. Can't wait to snuggle with my little girl!!!

Oh and a Kate Spade Diaper Bag :)

*it was about $700 it's a Best Chair Storytime Series the Blain style
