Halo Sleep Sack Fleece or Cotton?

I am currently using a NB sleep sack and am wanting to buy the next size up. There are 2 options micro fleece or cotton. I live in a cold climate one of the coldest in the US. She has lots of fleece sleepers already. Would getting the fleece sleep sack on top of wearing a fleece sleeper be to much? We keep the heat at our house at 72, but our bedrooms are a little bit cooler, maybe 68.

Re: Halo Sleep Sack Fleece or Cotton?

  • Our sleep sacks are fleece but we layer them with cotton. Double fleece might be a bit too warm unless your rooms are drafty.

  • My ds seems to do well in a cotton sleeper and cotton sleep sack. We live in michigan and keep our house at 70. Our room is probably around 68. My son tends to get hot easier so fleece would probably be too much. It may depend on your LO though.

  • What is she in now? I would probably do the fleece just because we're going into winter and it's only going to get colder. If she gets too hot, do you have cotton sleepers you can put her in and then in a fleece sack?

She has a cotton sleep sack now. We have a lot of newborn cotton sleepers, but not in the 0 - 3 month range and above. We have a lot of fleece sleepers to. I live in North Dakota so everyone understandibly gifted us fleece. We usually hit -30 by January/February.

  • I would stick with cotton. Most babies tend to run hot. My dd gets too hot in the cotton with nothing underneath. You can always add layers.

  • I do a onesie and a sleep sack. She did sometimes get sweaty in the fleece. I thought the fleece bunched way to much at her neck. I was always folding it down multiple times a night and it still made me nervous. I bought a cotton and like it much better. She never seems cold. Keep my house at 72

This.  Our DD ran hot as a baby (still does) and we used a cotton sleep sack for her.  We're in the mid-Atlantic area, so it's not quite as cold as North Dakota but we do keep our house around 64-66 at night to save money, and also because both DH and I prefer it a little chillier at night.  So far, DS has been comfortable in a cotton sleeper and cotton Halo swaddle at night.  I would be nervous using a fleece sleeper at night because he can get a little sweaty in one unswaddled during the day.

  • My kid sweats her ass off with the fleece sleeper and fleece sleep sack... And we live in a cold climate. I have found that the cotton sleep sack with the fleece sleeper or vice versa is perfect.

  • Double fleece would probably be too much, as PP have said. I put DS in a long sleeve onsie under a fleece sleep sack and this is perfect for him. He tends to run hot, but has never been sweaty in the morning. Now, he will get sweaty if we cuddle him in this, but sleeping on his own in his co sleeper is fine and he feels warm when I pick him up, but not too hot.

  • I do a fleece sleep sack with a cotton sleeper and cotton sleep sack with a fleece sleeper. So personally, I'd get both.

We keep our bedroom a bit cool, so I usually use her fleece sleep sacks. She has a cotton one too. I usually put a fleece sleeper underneath. She has 3 sleep sacks now and I plan to get more bc it seems like I have to wash them more often than anything else.
