Growth spurt or teething?

So tonight E has woken up four times already, which is very unusual for her (sorry). She has already gone through the sleep regression and even then she would usually only wake up twice (3 times at most). We have transitioned her to the crib and she has gone back to her 8-11 hour stretches at night for about two weeks now. Then the last two nights she woke up once, and tonight it's been every two-three hours. She's not sick or gassy or anything. She has been nursing right back to sleep. Could this be teething or a growth spurt? She's only 5.5 months so I didn't think she would've hit the 6 month spurt yet. She hasn't cut a tooth yet, so maybe that's it? Just tired and looking for suggestions.

  • I don't know what it is... But we are in the middle of it with you. I'm so frustrated.

  • I was thinking the save thing...possibly a growth spurt. Owen had never taken a paci, so i offered him one a week ago...and its his favorite thing!! I now think its just teething.

    It has saved my nipples.

Thanks for all the suggestions :) Glad I'm not alone. She woke up again at 7 and I just put her back down so maybe I can squeeze in another hour of shut eye. She is about 24 weeks (I had to go back and count), so I know there is a wonder week and a growth spurt on the near horizon. Throw teething in the mix and it looks like a full night of sleep is not happening for a good while. Oh joy.

Eta: just kidding, she's up for the day. Pass the espresso.

  • Us too. I thought it was starting solids related, but he didn't have any yesterday and still was up needing snuggles.

My only tip...go to bed early :)

  • Ours has been fussy but he just got 2 teeth so I'm thinking that's why. He was finally back to his normal self this morning.
