Intro & How did you find your embryos?

First of all, I am so sorry about the hard road of infertility that each of you are/have been on, but I do believe that blessings are at the end of this road. I am going to update my signature, but it is not easy from mobile. My husband and I are both over 40. I have DOR and in August I lost an ovary and a tube to a cancer scare (thankfully it was benign). My dr told us that conception with OE would be basically impossible so we were given the choice of using an egg donor or embryo donation. We have decided to pursue embryo adoption. There was a story on CNN the day of my surgery about a couple who transferred 2 adopted embryos and is expecting triplets. We felt like the story was speaking to us that we needed to look into adopting embryos. My question is: How did you find your embryos? Did you use an agency, go through your clinic,other sources?? Any advice about this process would be greatly appreciated!! TIA

    Welcome!! We are using the program called California conceptions through the California IVF clinic using donor egg / donor sperm. If you are interested in learning more, I would be happy to share! good luck to you.

    Hi and welcome! We found two batches of embryos through word of mouth. I put together a "Where to start with embryo adoption" page on my blog that you can check out if you click on the embryo adoption badge in my siggy. I also started a secret facebook group with 100+ members if you would like me to add you there too. Just let me know! Happy to answer questions as well.

     Me (32) DH (36) - Finding our way to baby #1
     Me: POF/DOR - AMH <0.16, heterozygous c677t MTHFR, insulin resistant and gluten intolerant
     DH: Severe MFI

     12/2/11 - IUI #1- BFN 
    8/1/12 - IVF #1 - Zero response from max stims (600iu intramuscularly)
    My ovaries are just for decoration

     12/6/12 - Adopted five embryos that had been frozen for over ten years!
     2/11/13 - DEmbryo FET #1 Thawed four, sadly two didn't survive. Transferred two beautiful blasts. 
     2/16/13 - First BFP of my life @ 6dp5dt! EDD 10/30/13
     3/27/13 - After beta and u/s hell, no heartbeat ever detected. D&C at 9w1d.

    6/5/13 - Adopted four new embryos that had been frozen for seven years!      
    9/12/13 - DEmbryo FET #2. Thawed and transferred two beautiful blasts
    9/17/13 - BFP @ 5dp6dt! EDD 05/31/14
     9/29/13 - m/c @ 5w1d. :(

    11/19/13 - DEmbryo FET #3. Thawed and transferred one blast from each batch. Wow!
     11/23/13 - BFP @ 4dp6dt! EDD 8/7/13
    Beta #1 @ 13dp6dt - 522  Beta #2 @ 16dp6dt - 1373 
    6w5d ultrasound showed one perfect baby with a beautiful heartbeat of 134bpm!

    Snowflake baby is a girl! 
    Our beautiful Snowflake girl arrived on July 22, 2014!

    I would love info on California conceptions. Is it possible to use them even if we live in Texas. I will check out your blog info. I would also like to join the fb group. I sent you a pm earlier but it may not have gone through.

    Hello!!  Yes, it is definitely possible to use California Conceptions if you do not live in CA.  I actually live in SC so I just traveled out there this weekend for my first transfer.  A couple of places to start to read:



    Both these sites helped me a lot!   It is one fee for up to 3 cycles.  It is a DE/DS embryo donation program.  Donation is anonymous.  They have a few pre-requisites before they will start to look for matches for you -- having a saline sonogram, labwork and a psych consult (which I ended up doing through Skype with a therapist in California familiar with the program.)  I was matched pretty quickly but it can take a few months from what I was told.   The process before matching as well is to have a phone consult with a coordinator and then a phone consult with a doctor. The dr I spoke with was not the dr that did my transfer this weekend but I was really impressed with both!!   The fee is not paid until you are matched & sign the paperwork.  It is due within one week of signing everything.  The profile they give you is about 40 pages long so there is a lot of information.  I am sure there is alot I am missing in telling you but that is the short version.  If you have any questions, please let me know!!!  Wishing you all the best!!
