We do at night as most of her naps are in my wrap or spent just snuggling. When she gets tired and starts to fuss, swaddling gets her to stop crying ASAP. I think she would have issues sleeping as well as she does if she wasn't swaddled. We are using a halo sleep sack or a miracle blanket as those are the only two she doesn't bust out of right away.
Possible UO here--- babies might hate swaddling initially, but then they like it. Even the 5s guy acknowledges that they hate it initially. I've never met a baby that didn't like swaddling and didn't sleep better that way. I think its sort of absurd to say they "don't like it". They're a month old, how do they know?!? I've had several babies whose patents swear they hate to be swaddled, then I do it and they totally calm and sleep better.
Sorry for the soap box rant. Yes, we are definitely swaddled over here. In the day though, the swaddled are much looser so she sleeps less soundly in order to learn ay from night.
We use Aden + Anais blankets to swaddle during the day, and a halo sleep sack at night. We always swaddle him so his hands can be by his face, he loves touching his face while he sleeps. :-)
Our Halo sleep sack is getting major use. We've started leaving his hands out though, bc he won't take a paci and his fingers are sometimes the only thing that can calm him down.
@babymama619 I get your sentiment, and I agree lots of babies love swaddles, but my parenting rule is to throw up some raised eyebrows whenever someone says, "all babies...(fill in blank)"
My son didn't like swaddles until he was around 8 weeks old and even then only wore it for a few weeks.
Matthew is swaddled a lot ! When he's fighting sleep or fussing it calms him immediately. We swaddle at night and always swaddle his arms because he flails himself awake or knocks his pacifier out.

I was originally anti-swaddle because it was just so much of a pain and she sleeps fine. Now I swaddle when she gets really worked up fighting sleep or when our nursing sessions hit 40 minutes
Swaddling is not for every baby. We obviously don't know for sure if the baby loves it or not. But we are ruling every decision for baby. They could fuss when we put them in the swaddle and then sleep amazing, or they could get into a swaddle no problem but not sleep any better with or without it.
J will let me swaddle him, but like mom and dad he is a hot box. He would be so wet from sweat that I would think he leaked. So I have him just in pjs and he seems to like being stretched out, just like daddy. Sleeps the same with or without swaddling.
We swaddle chest down in the Halo sleep sack also. LO sleeps fine with his arms out. He only wakes up to eat and get changed then goes right back to sleep.
The times we did swaddle arms-in, he spent the next 20 minutes grunting and crying trying to free his hands. Why do that to myself?
We did it for DD and she seemed to like it, but would always bust her arms out of it by morning. DS is a wiggleworm and doesn't like the swaddle very much, plus the fact that he has reflux so I can't lie him in the crib anyways. Maybe once I get the reflux under control...
We have the swaddle me blankets but he just fights until he gets his arms free. I've thought about doing a double swaddle but I think he would get too hot.
I swaddle ours at night, with a miracle blanket, because she's so wriggly otherwise; I don't think it's safe for her yet to sleep unswaddled in the co-sleeper, as she's strong enough to almost flip herself over, but not coordinated enough to flip back if she gets stuck.
Otherwise she sleeps in our arms, the bouncy seat, or the rock-and-play.
She neither loves the swaddle nor hates it.

We swaddle or use swaddleme at night. He doesn't sleep well unless he feels cuddled.
We're still experimenting whether arms in or out. It really depends on his mood and whether he really wants his fingers or is ok with a pacifier or nothing. When he accepts arms in, he'll get the soundest sleep.
My DD seems to always bust out of the swaddles (which prolly says a lot about my technique). So I usually just swaddle from the chest down do that she can have her arms out.
For those that dont swaddle, what do you dress them in for sleeping- a gown or sleep sack or something along those lines?

This!!
STM, so this isn't my first rodeo. DD1 loved the swaddle, and needed it so I assumed we'd swaddle DD2. We noticed very quickly DD2 was sleeping better unswaddled at nap time then she was swaddled at night. She'd spend 30-45+ minutes fighting the swaddle to get her hands out to suck her hand/thumb. She goes down just fine unswaddled.
Also, when I was pregnant she moved so much it was alien like watching it. And painful. She is super chill on the outside. My theory is she was trying to stretch out (which could be wrong but I'm going with it).
All that to say some babies do sleep better unswaddled.

We swaddle at night only. He won't sleep swaddled in his co-sleeper during the day. I suck at it, so DH does it every time. The one I have that velcro's is too big. i have to figure it out so that he doesn't break free and end up with the blanket over his face like last time!
We swaddle at night, though he's getting more active with his legs and manages to loosen it up enough to get a hand out. He wants to suck his thumb and can't coordinate it yet, so having his hands free leads to him getting super worked up. We also swaddle him when he gets super upset during the day and it really does seem to calm him down.
How do you ladies swaddle with the muslin and softer blankets? He seems to wriggle out of those ones so easily but the receiving blankets are going to be too small soon.
I swaddled in the a&a muslin blankets and he doesn't wriggle out. I fold the triangle down larger than a receiving blanket then stick his head slightly above it, Fold the right side over to the left and roll him to the left to tuck it tight under him..(while pulling left side tight) Then bottom up to chest and any overlap I fold back down..kinda tuck the side of the bottom under him again on the left side, then pull the left over right, pick him up and wrap him all the way around..it usually goes right around to the front the I tuck the edge into one of the folds..I hope that makes sense!!!
Thanks @Littlemama01 and @karissa2009. I used the muslin blanket last night to swaddle, then wrapped another folded one around him to try to keep it together. He still kept getting a hand out but honestly that doesn't seem to distract him so much. I think keeping him warm is key because he sleeps on me during the day like a champ!
Oh @joelies I forgot to mention to keep hands in, I tuck the hand into the triangle that you fold down, before bringing right over left..same on other side...again hope that makes sense
