What do you think? - Nursery Decor

These will give you an idea of what has happened/is happening and then below is the real what do you think related to rocking chair

https://i43.tinypic.com/2626vq0.jpg - This is the wall color and carpet (please excuse the missing baseboard cover, DH was still cleaning it when I took this).
https://www.babyviva.com/product/furniture/999513-26740/echelon-artisan-furniture-collection.html - This is our furniture, we didn't get the long dresser but the chest whose image is cut off.
https://imageset2.newerahd.com/cached/40/V00551_F0000_ML000_CG_20_410.jpg - DH's sister will be painting Starry Night as a mural on a short wall that isn't visible in this picture.
I'm planning to do some shelving once the furniture is in place, probably in white to balance out the dark furniture with the white molding.
The bedding for the crib is all white, and will have a few yellow stars sewn by MIL.

Now for the real what do you think part of this post:
DH has his rocker (very similar wood color to the crib and chest set) from when he was a baby that I want to change out the fabric on the cushions. Do you think a bright orange would work? If not, what do you think might?

I think bright orange would be fine, it kind of ties in some of the colors from Starry Night.

What color curtains will you do? If any.

DH wants to put up these: https://www.levolor.com/products/cellular-shades/options.php in white, to avoid cord issues. I picked up a pair of plain white curtains from Ikea for $9.99 that I figured I or MIL can sew yellow ribbon onto the bottom or stars.

Ok, I was just thinking that if you were going to do a yellow or something that might clash, but I think it'll (the orange) look great!

I love the theme, very different and unique.

Are you finding out what you are having? And I think if you get the right orange it will work, for example a burnt orange will NOT work, but a bright spring orange will

Thank you! I'm glad that you guys are feeling the orange will work! The furniture should hopefully be finding it's way into the nursery today.

@jsaffer01, We are hoping that the ultrasound tech at our anatomy scan will be able to get a clear shot. My grandfather who has cancer (and my grandmother) will be attending with us, and I would love for the tech to be able to surprise him and us.

I'd go with white or yellow to match the colours in the other fabrics in the room. If the stars and ribbon were orange, too, then I think orange would work on the rocker. That's just my own personal need to have certain things coordinate, though.

I have some white fabric on hand that I can definitely wrap around the cushions before I purchase any orange to see, I love for things to coordinate also so I'm nervous about opting for the orange but DH insists it should work and he'd prefer a color on the cushion instead of white.

There's some orange in the stars of Starry Night hence thinking that if I pulled it out, it would make for a bright pop of color.

I think if you match the orange to the orange in starry night it could look really cool. So maybe pick out a fabric than have the paint store color match it. Or go with a navy blue on the pillows to coordinate with the starry night background.

I vote for orange. I think it will be a nice pop of color that ties in the painting. And it won't look dirty as quickly as white will.

I vote for orange,too. I feel thatthe orange will be some contrast to the other colors. It's in the murals little so it will pull that out. Sometimes things get too matchy otherwise. Can't wait to see the finished product!!!

YES to the orange.

NO to white shades, esp if you're doing those in lieu of other window treatments. I think they will stand out poorly. If those shades are all you're putting on the windows, if possible go with a navy blue that matches the mural background. The navy will look great next to the green wall color as well.

I really like this suggestion!

Also, the colour matching at Home Depot is fantastic! We took my bridesmaids dresses there to get a paint swatch that was the same colour so that the bakery doing our cake could make the fondant match the shade. Worked out great! Totally not the same thing, I know, but I'm just saying. It works really well.
