Sibling gifts

Are anyone getting a sibling a gift from LO ? I just read about this and wanted some input.

Re: Sibling gifts

  • This LO is out first, but I love this idea.
  • When I had DD, we had *her* have a couple of gifts wrapped up at home for DS when she came home. We got him a couple of books, and a pop-up tent with a big square floor pillow for the inside. My logic was that if he wanted some quite time away from the baby, he could go in there. He absolutely loved it (and thankfully never felt the need to escape into it, lol). He and DD played it into the ground, and I just replaced it last week (2.5 years later).

I love the premise and will do something similar this time around, but haven't thought about what yet.

  • I think I'm going to do this for DD.
  • They are going to exchange necklaces. I am very excited about it!

  • When DD was born we made biggest brother, bigger brother, and big brother tee shirts for our 3 boys from her. I'm not sure what to do this time!? She is only 19 months so she probably won't think anything of it... My boys were 3,7,11 when she was born.
  • We are kinda spoiling are DS with an
iPod touch. He will give his sister violet the puppy toy that you program to say her name and stuff. In my defense we got an awesome deal on the iPod and we were going to get him one for Xmas but decided to wait...
  • We bought him a Big Brother shirt and her a little sister onesie.  We also bought him a Big Brother book I plan on giving to him at Christmas.

  • Not exactly a siblings gift, but I saw this today and thought it would be perfect for DD (18 months) to "play mommy" while I take care of the baby. Thought I would pass the idea along to you guys. :)

    Love it
  • We will have DS pick something to give the baby, and have a gift from baby to DS, but I don't want it to be anything "big brother" related. I want him to feel special outside of being a big brother and just have a nest gift to enjoy from baby. He might be sick of being called big bro and I want something unrelated he can have fun with.

  • We've already redecorated DS's room. We didn't want him to see us doing the nursery and bringing home all of the baby items and not do something special for him. We got the PBK Captain America bedding and decorated with vintage super hero posters.

I bought a big brother shirt for him and like the idea of giving him a gift from baby.

I also have it set up with my family that after this LO is born, they will come over 2 or 3 afternoons a week for an hour or two and either take DS to the park to play or stay with the baby so I can go have some time with DS.

  • We're having the baby 'give' DS a new toy kitchen. We got him a big bro t shirt to wear to the hospital to meet the new little guy. DS will be about 21 months
  • We got dd a big sister book and a tiny Abu doll that we will give her at the hospital when she comes to visit. We also talk about the baby and sing good morning to the baby when we sing good morning to everyone at breakfast.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
