These are different names. I pronounce them differently. Ih-meal-ee-uh vs. Uh-meal-ee-uh.

Agree--these are different names. I prefer Emilia, and would love to use it had DH not shot it down!

Yes, they are different names and I pronounce them differently.  I like Emilia (E-me-e-ah) best but know most people will pronounce the Amelia way more than not.

Different names.  My DH and I much prefer Amelia and it's one of our name choices.

These are different names, I think. However, in many places people's accents will make them sound practically indistinguishable, especially when said quickly.

Also, in my family tree (five generations back), there is an Emilia/Amelia. Her name is spelled both ways depending on which document you are looking at. So to me, they can also be the same. But I believe I am in the minority.

I prefer the E because of the nn possibilities. Em, Emmy, etc.

    I also pronounce these differently.

They are different names do you just have to choose which pronoun citation you prefer.

As for my taste, I prefer Amelia spelling and sound

Okay, I never pronounced these differently.  To me, they are the same name, and sound the name.  I guess I'm the odd one out though.  I like the Amelia spelling.

I can't choose.  I like both and say them slightly differently.  Amelia (ah-meel-ya) vs. Emilia (Eh-me-lee-ah)
