I have been blessed with a very uneventful twin pregnancy, so perhaps this "freak out" comes from my first time having a scare with our boys. At my 34 week OB appointment on Wednesday the sonogram measurements showed a 42% growth discordance between the twins. Baby A is measuring at 4.7lbs and Baby B is measuring at 5.13lbs. I have been having weekly BPPs done to ensure that the babies are healthy and they have passed every single one with flying colors. Wednesday I was sent to the hospital for a non-stress test after the measurements showed the weight difference. The larger baby passed within 15 minutes and the small one took almost 25 minutes, but he passed also. The doctor is sending me back tomorrow for another NST to keep a close eye on Baby A. Although I know that at 34w3d the boys would be okay if a delivery needed to happen, and that many MoMs have had significantly larger differences in weights of their multiples, I can't help but as a FTM to be nervous at the fear of the unknown. Just curious if anyone else had a similar experience that they might be able to share.
Re: Twin growth discordance at 34wks
The day my mo/dis were measuring at 24% discordant (at 35w4) they ordered my C/S. Both babies were very healthy, and, like @mellissalynay90, my littler guy actually did slightly better (he breathed room air from the start....the nurses said something about having that little extra stress actually helped him....?)
Hope that helps a little....I know it is super nerve-wracking, but you've gotten to a really good place. Best of luck!
Good luck!
