Who has done laser hair removal??

A friend of mine has done it and she loves loves loves it. She's finished all her treatments and ever since her first treatment she has never had to even shave once.

I'm wondering if she's part of the majority or minority. I've also heard that pregnancy causes it to grow back even worse than before??

I think I want to try it after I give birth

Re: Who has done laser hair removal??

  • I have and I'm super happy with the results. That being said I would wait until you're done having babies cause hormone changes will likely impact re growth. Also I'd go to a reputable place.

  • I've done it, and my results were so so. That said, I will do it again cuz I definitely have less hair for a long time after. I do need touch ups, though, and pregnancy has basically killed any good results.
  • I did it on my underarms and the air definitely almost went away but when I stopped the treatments it grew back. It grows back less thick though. I heard you need maintenance appointments though. I think it's worth it.

  • I had it done earlier this year. I was told if I were to get pregnant the hair would grow back. So far it has not grown back as thick as before, but it did grow back. I was really happy with the results and plan to get another treatment after LO is born.

  • I think it depends on what you want to get done (the type of hair that it is). I got my "happy trail" done. It's very coarse hair (very sexy) so I of course want it gone. I had 6 treatments and I still have to shave. Like others said, it's thinner and I think grows slower, but didn't work for me. That said, I would do it again-same spot or different spot.
  • I had my bikini line and underarms done about 7 or 8 years ago.  I'm a special case in that my hair is really thick (the individual hairs), so it was fairly painful for me, and I did 7 sessions, and I should have done more but I couldn't take the pain.  I don't know if the process has changed since, but each session they would gradually do a higher "level" so it became more uncomfortable as time went on.  The underarms didn't stay, but I've been epilating them since, I use this: https://www.amazon.com/Bliss-Philips-Perfect-HP6378-Spa-At-Home-Grooming/dp/B00153C644/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top, and my underarm hair grows in much thinner.  My bikini line took pretty well, I have had some light grow-back that I just shave quickly.  I would do it again in a heartbeat, but I have an awful combination of curly hair, fast growing hair and sensitive skin, so I could never shave or wax (it always grew back in bumps).  If I was able to wax or shave with no rash and the hair didn't grow back 12 hours later I would stick with that.

  • My BFF works and teaches laser hair and tattoo removal and i can't wait to see her! (Prev hadn't been able to bc of scheduling and then KU)
She loves her job, but sees a lot of ppl come in that got groupons and other discounts and she has to clean up the "mess" (not saying groupons etc are bad just sometimes not as efficient and careful)
I'd say get it just do done research on where and whom you're getting it done from
  • I have done my armpits, legs, and girly bits. Unfortunately preganancy has brought it back, but I am hopeful it will dissipate after birth. Don't go to a place that uses an IPL!!! Hurts like hell and the results are terrible! I am going to get some touch ups after I have the baby! Definitely worth it!!

  • Totally worth it! I am middle eastern ( a hairy beast) and had it done on my side burns, bikini and legs. I didn't get to finish treatments bc I got preggs with DD. For only having about 6 treatments the outcome was awesome! It was never totally gone but the way it grows back now is soooo much better. I used to need to shave every two days in the summer and after about every two weeks.
  • This is all good to know. I've really wanted, and seriously considered, getting laser hair removal, but now I think I'll wait until I'm done having kids.
  • I can't wait for the spring when I can try this out :)
  • Good to know to wait after done with having kids! I will do it:).
  • I had it done years ago on my bikini area.  It took 7 sessions and a LOT of it has grown back (and I'm not a very hairy person, at all)--maybe about half?  I mean I guess its still nice to have 50% less hair to shave or wax but still.

Are there any types of places your friend would recommend? I really want to get it done again after this pregnancy , but I want to choose somewhere that's really good.
  • Yeah i did it 3 years ago, hair was pretty much gone. As soon as i found i was pregnant it came back! Keep meaning to see if they'll give me some touch up sessions after baby is born

  • I had all of my lady parts done. Worth every penny. I have very coarse, thick hair, so do still need touch ups, but the difference from before treatment is huge. I also noticed no issues with regrowth during my first pregnancy or this one.
