We are Team Green, and still have a long ways to go (I'm only 16wks for those on app). This is our third, and final. One gender we have the name set in stone - but zilch for the other. There are two names DH and I "kind of" agree on BUT I think they sound like the other gender. I'm not going to say which, bc I don't want to lead anyone...but what do you think the following sound like (boy or girl)? •Emerson •Rowan
UPDATE: Emerson and Rowan were two "boy" names we kind of agreed on BUT...I really felt they were more girl sounding to me. I can't get over how "girly" they sound to me, so I think they are out.
My Hooligans.....Samuel Brice-Fritzgerald (6/30/10) and Payton Elizabeth (7/23/08)
Interesting that everyone thought boy because I thought girl. I actually see them both as gender neutral but I only know one Rowan and one Emerson and they are both girls. The uncertainty alone would keep me from using the names.
My daughter has classmates with those names - both girls, so to me they have crossed over to "unisex". I personally wouldn't use a name that seemed to be becoming unisex on a boy, but that's just personal preference.
I agree that both names are traditionally boy names.... That being said, I know only female Emerson's and only female Rowan's. Whether it's a boy or girl name historically, traditionally, whatever... It would bother me to have my son share a name with the girls so I would personally avoid them. But that's just me, if that doesn't bother you, then it doesn't make a difference. I get the whole standing up on your soap. PC to defend boys names things and equal opportunities with girl names on boys and whatever, but at the end of the day I still only female Emerson's and Rowan's.

My first instinct for Emerson is a girl, and Rowan for a boy. I can see Emerson on either but Rowan on a girl just doesn't seem right to me. All the ones I know are boys.
