Cold sore

It looks like my 17 month old is starting to get a cold sore on her lip. Is there anything I can do for her? medication that's safe? I don't want to wait too long and have it turn into something huge and painful.

My 4 year old gets them sometimes and I use coconut oil on him. Helps it heal quicker, keeps it moist, keeps it from scarring AND it's no biggy if he licks it.

def talk to the doctor first. I wouldn't put anything on it without being sure.
