When did your Morning Sickness kick in?

I'm really dreading ( really) the nausea and vomiting that may happen sooner than later. Havent gotten any yet ( but only 4 weeks).Trying to prepare with my routine - diet and exercise if that even helps. Trying to avoid taking Zofran. Hoping for some tips that helped alleviate the pure disgust and immobility of it all. Yuck .

Re: When did your Morning Sickness kick in?

  • 6 1/2 weeks, it kicked in... Full force! It was awful, zofran saved me from having to go to the hospital to be hydrated, more than once I'm sure. There's nothing wrong with taking it if you need it, it's perfectly safe. That being said, I started out not wanting to take anything either.. I just wasn't crazy about the idea. Maybe you'll be lucky and have mild or no nausea and/or vomiting :-) i tried everything before being medicated and nothing worked because I was so seriously sick, but you could very likely be completely different (as everyone is). Later on i did find that peppermint anything took the nausea away, as long as it was just the nausea. Exercise is supposed to work well too so it sounds like youre on the right track! Oo, i also heard acupuncture works wonders but i never got around to trying it. Good luck!

  • 5 wks-ish with my dd. 6 wks to the day with this pregnancy. I went from a little queasy here and there to couldn't get off the couch, so nauseous, can't eat, etc. I did end up needing zofran and pheneregan. Everyone is different though!!

5 weeks. I also went from mild queasiness here and there, maybe some gagging, to full on all day nausea, throwing up once a day, barely up off the couch, not cooking or doing much else, couldn't stand the smell of most things, didn't like the taste of most things. When I started throwing up more than once a day, I decided it was time to get some meds.

I've been on the meds since 10 weeks and even at almost 14 weeks now, I still have issues when I don't take them.

  • I felt nausea here and there around 3 1/2 weeks, but I'm pretty sure it was just the fertility meds (estrogen/progesterone) I was on. My true 'morning' sickness started 5 wk 5 day and it's still very much here.

    Good luck!

  • Yea, I'm going to say it was week 5 also.  Just a whole lot of nausea, mild dizziness....I never actually threw up.  It's odd because I felt fine when I was eating (mostly carb-y stuff), but if I wasn't eating that's usually when I got my sickest.  I also got sick after drinking ginger ale sometimes so have other drink options available.  Gatorade or Pedialyte, juice, or just ice chips.

I couldn't imagine working out with the morning all-day sickness.  Week 4 I was all, "I'm going to eat healthy, blahblahblah" and then yea, I was lucky if eating a banana didn't make me gag.  :|

So just do what you can and don't feel bad for what you can't.

  • I just hit 6 weeks and I have not had any nausea or vomiting.  This is my first pregnancy, so I'm not sure if I'm going to have morning sickness or not.

  • The worst I got was getting verrrry picky about what I ate for a few weeks. If it didn't sound good, I wanted it the fvck outta my face/brain/life. But if it was a food I wanted, it was heaven on earth. So to answer your question-- it didn't.

  • Mine happened at the exact 6 week mark. I am nauseous all day and my stomach seems like it's always on fire. That's the best way I can think of to describe it. I have found that milk or a bowl of cereal helps calm the burning/sour stomach feeling. Or icecream :)

I hope this doesn't continue. I'm on week 3 of it and ready for it to be over. I've heard people say it peaks at 10 weeks and others say it starts to get better toward the end of 1 tri so we shall see. Good luck, maybe you won't have any!

So far just nauseated this time. I'm expecting to be barfing in approximately two weeks though.
  • 6 weeks on the dot. I rarely got sick but just felt really nauseated all the time.
  • 5 weeks. Now almost 10 weeks and it is much worse now.
  • Between weeks five and six. I don't think there is much you can do to prepare for the hell that is m/s. I don't do saltines and ginger ale makes me I'll, too. Maybe a dozen of bagels, but that can wait. Everyone's m/s is different. I'm on a second type of prescription drug and so far it seems to really help. I don't wish it on anyone. GL!

  • From the day before I got my bfp, so like 4 weeks :(

  • It's quite possible that you may not get very sick, which would be very nice! :)  I actually just found out Monday of this week that I'm 9 weeks pregnant.  I started having queasiness and was very exhausted, but before that I didn't really feel sick.  I still to this point haven't actually gotten sick, just gagged here and there, but thankfully nothing more than that.  So I pray you have it as easy as I did through the early weeks of the first trimester!  :)
  • I really hope you are right - we've calculated and believe I'm currently about 5 weeks. I hope I skip it! I've been feeling a little faint and tired but that's about it.
  • That's definitely going to happen.... and don't feel bad for kicking it back and just relaxing every so often, you're going to need it.  That baby takes a lot of your energy, but it's totally worth it. :)
  • I've had it the whole pregnancy :(
  • With my son, I only threw up once the whole pregnancy and basically didn't get morning sickness - but had the worst heartburn ever, constantly, and frequent migraines I couldn't even take good meds for. Kinda hoping I just get the morning sickness this time...

  • I am 6 weeks and have no morning sickness at all. I'm kind of anxious, like is it just going to hit me one day or am I one of the lucky ones? I have other symptoms like sore breasts, sleeping like a granny, but no nausea at all yet!
I have a barf bag tucked into my handbag just in case... :)

  • Yesterday!! At 7 weeks! And it's the all the time kind too. Booo
  • I feel m/s kicking in right now. While I am sitting at my desk pretending to work.

Regretting peanut butter protein shake, not sure it will taste so good the second time...

  • You could be one of the lucky ones that never gets it.  I never had any with my DD and so far none with this pregnancy (I am 6 weeks).  I was EXHAUSTED the entire first tri with my DD and that has started over the past few days again.  It is good to be prepared, like having some crackers at home, but don't worry so much about the possibility of it starting that you talk yourself into feeling crappy.

  • I'm 7 weeks today, and have not had one instance of morning sickness. The most I've had was when I smelled the bacon my husband was cooking and got a little queasy.

My mother said she and her mother got VERY sick with all of their pregnancies, so I'm pleasantly surprised that I have not had that experience [yet].
  • I am 6 weeks and I haven't actually been sick. Just nauseous.

  • You may not get sick. I'm 10 weeks and I haven't been at all. I got nauseated a few times at nightand it passed once i drank water. Not everyone experiences morning sickness.

  • Mine kicked in early, around 3-4 weeks. I had morning sickness for almost 5 weeks and haven't had it for about a week or so (which has been sooooo nice!), and I am now 10 weeks. Each woman is different! Hopefully you won't get it at all, or if you do, it won't be as bad!
  • Don't stress about it much.  It many not happen at all.  So far so good for me and Im at 10 weeks.
