I am very self conscious when it comes to periods and what comes out of my body, and am afraid of getting in a mess after birth, I know sometimes unavoidable. But how much blood did you get plus how many pairs of underwear did you bring and how many maternity pads did you go through in what amount of time.
I'm a FTM so I went by what the hospital check list said. Your hospital is going to give you mesh panties and the biggest maxi pads you have ever seen. They will also most likely send you home with a days supply. I brought 3 pairs of "period" panties they are already stained and I dont care if I throw them out after. If your super self conscious about it just go to walmart or target and buy some cheap black panties.
Also remember not to be super self conscious about it as you are going to be having a audience of more than your SO while giving birth!
I can only speak from my own experience but when I had my son there was A LOT of blood. I'm not sure how many pads and things I got through but I know it was a silly amount. My best suggestion is to go and buy a pack of very cheap, very big, black knickers that it wont matter if you have to throw away.
Thankfully, after the first few bad days it calmed down to sort of "normal period" amounts and what a lot easier to deal with.
There is a lot of blood the first few days. I wore the mesh underwear from the hospital and the pads that I liked (Always Overnight). The hospital pads were very bulky and umcomfortable. I do remember changing my pads pretty often while in the hospital. The bleeding slowed down after a few days and it was just like having a normal period for a few weeks.

Yes I did go to LnD and they said once again it was just discharge . I opposed and said it wasn't like doscharge at all. They made me collect some in a jar and they tested it and found that it was just watery discharge with a bit of infection. Awaiting results to find out what type if infection do I can be treated.
Everyone is different, but for me the postpartum bleeding was no worse than a heavier period, even initially. I was scared it would be pouring out of me like a faucet after the horror stories I heard, but that wasn't the case. That said, I would just assume it is going to be an extremely heavy flow and hopefully you will be surprised. I just brought a few pairs of granny undies I didn't care about getting ruined, and used the mesh undies and pads in the hospital -- they will provide you with all you need while you are there. When we checked out to go home I wore the underwear I brought.
I had a c section and very minimal bleeding after. The hospital provided mesh panties and huge, long pads. I think I used those for the first day expecting lots of blood which never showed. A week after birth I was wearing thongs, didn't even need a liner. So everyone and every birth is different. Be prepared for lots of bleeding but know its OK to not have much

I will be wearing there mesh panties and bringing my own pads. There pads are horrible and bulky and personally I don't think they work, at least for me they didn't for me last time I used them
I did not keep track of how many pads I used in what time period. I was just happy to get a shower some days. Plus, I had this newborn baby to raise. My hospital just hands out babies sometimes.

Damn, I want your hospital! Mine has a 9 month waiting list.
It's like Black Friday, you have to wait in line for a long ass time and there's all these other people waiting too.
