Does anyone else have SUA?

Single umbilical artery. meaning most umbilical cords have 2 arteries and 1 vein, mine only has 1 artety and 1 vein.
We just found it at our a/s. Tech and MFM said they were not concerned. Just wondering if anyone else had it.

Re: Does anyone else have SUA?

  • I had this with my DS1, we did a level 2 ultrasound with a perinatologist because he also had choroid plexus cysts.... He is totally healthy, they monitored his growth throughout the pregnancy and I had to do either ultrasounds or nst the last 6 weeks or so of pregnancy... His birth weight was 8lbs13oz so good there:)

  • Is as just diagnosed with it on Tuesday. Apparently it's pretty common (1/100). From what I can tell and the dr told us (and after speaking w my brother in law who is a perinatoligist in Chicago) she it presents with no other abnormalities, chances are everything will be fine. You will just be monitored for growth more often. We did some extra bloodwork just to double check that there aren't any genetic issues. It's scary nonetheless. No one wants to hear anything is "wrong".
